I am a cousin to John Perry. I never had the opportunity to meet John. I am so proud of him just knowing that he was such a loving and kind individual. He gave his life trying to save others. We will always be thankkful for his
courageous efforts. God be with you John.

John was about 12 or 13 the last time I saw him. I was best buds with his sister, so we practically grew up together.
He was a sweet, quiet, intelligent kid with an easy smile.
I lost touch with his family when I went off to college.
My mom told me about his death. She was told by his mother.
Even though he had a short life, I was thrilled to find out that he had such a wonderful, rich, full life.

This man is a true hero! He is one of who knows how many who died trying to help others! To run INTO a burning building like firefighters do every day is heroism in itself. To run into the WTC, seeing what we saw only in pictures, is selflessness and bravery at its utmost highest. I can't help but to still cry for all the men and women who perished on that tragic day.

This guy sounds like he was an amazing human being, and a great cop.... His family and his country should be very proud!

John W. Perry was an NYPD Police Officer who sacrificed his own live to help save others. On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 John was filing his retirement papers at 1 Police Plaza, intent on becoming a full-time practicing lawyer. He was not your typical police officer. John spoke French, Spanish, Swedish, and Russian, and was learning Albanian. He was a graduate of New York University School of Law. He ran in three marathons and took part in a swim around Manhattan. He was an extra in Woody Allen films and enjoyed many roles as an actor in the film industry. When he learned of the attacks, he ran the few blocks to the World Trade Center. Colleagues said he disappeared in the rubble when the south tower collapsed, just moments after he tried to help a woman who had fainted.

A true American Hero!

I'm proud to have come to know John as a friend.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments.
