Jose was a school mate. He was a gentleman athlete. A very strong man with a big heart. He was that person in school that could have been conceited and bullied those around him, but he was kind, caring, and always championed those less able than him. That was how he presented himself then and was the basis of the adult he became. When I first heard that he perished in the WTC as a responder, I thought that it was an apt passing for a man who truely cared about the welfare of those around him. He was such an exemplary human being. It is a great tragedy that he was taken from us at a young age. He is still needed to wrestle into the fray and make the situation better. You let your freak flag fly high old friend, throw a dodge ball in heaven for me. You are missed.

I knew Jose from high school in Manhattan. He was a terrific person who dedicated himself to helping and saving others. We all lost a great man long before his time in 2001. His memory will always be with us. His legacy and principals will always life on.

I remember Jose during the years 1988-1990. He was telling me how excited he was to train for the firefighter test. I found him to be quiet, kind, at times shy, but always a good person. My heart goes out to his family, and especially his wife, who's now raising his son. I worked with him at Belmay, Long Island City, NY. I regret never getting to know him better. God bless you, Jose.

To the family of Jose Guadalupe,
I was totally in shock when I seen Jose pic come across the screen. He was my classmate in August Martin. He was truly a nice person and will truly be missed. I hope and pray that his family will continue to be strong in these trying times. Just know that he is smiling down on you from the heavens, so smile!

I've always said that it takes a special kind of person to be a firefighter.  Tony was that kind of special and much, much more.

Tony was the most intelligent and thoughtful person one could have the pleasure to know. He is my mentor, my friend and my husband.  It is because of him that I am the woman that I am today.  He means the world to me and will forever be alive in my heart.

Tony loved to read, he loved Jimi Hendrix and had taken up the guitar, he was extremely athletic, playing basketball, skiing, and bike riding regularly, and never hesitated to share his experience with others.  Many people considered him a friend and confidant.  He is truly missed, but we who knew him best must keep his memory alive for his baby boy A.J., the most beautiful baby in the world.

Tony --

I never imagined living in a world without you.  It's hard to believe that its two years since you were taken away from us, because it feels like yesterday.  I always thought you were invincible.  I guess that's why its so hard to believe. I've loved you since I was 15 and you looked at me and made me so nervous I dropped my books on the train on the way to school.  The child inside me will love you forever and the woman I am is grateful to you for loving me.

Always, Elise.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments.
