Joey I remember you most when we were kids. My heart goes out to you and your family. May your sole and all the soles of the 911 rest in peace.

Today my son Nick and his team the ST A's cycloned played in memory of Joseph. It was an honor to play for him. We won our game 6-1. It was a lovely ceremony before the game and Buff gave a beautiful speech about remembrance. I think about the people who died 9/11/01 every day. I will never forget. God bless the family of Joseph and all the families affected by the cowardly acts of terrorism that awful day.

God bless the Mascali family. I think about all of you often and hope all is well. I will never forget when my mom and I would pick up Jennifer for school, and Mr. Mascali would give me candy through the car window as I sat in the back seat and then would wave good-bye as he went off to work in the morning. I miss you all and hope to see you soon!
Much love,
Meaghan Pecora and family

We love you, Uncle Joe!
I truly wish that you would have gotten a chance to meet my beautiful daughter Emily! She looks at your picture all the time at my mom and smiles. We tell her about you all the time, and I know deep down in my heart she has met you already! You are her guardian angel, watching and protecting her always! Miss you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow!
Love,
Dani

My favorite thing about my Uncle Joey was his popped collar! What a great man he was. His spirit and heroism will never be forgotten. I'll make sure the future generation appreciate the sacrifice he, and numerous others, made.
Love,
Lou

I am proud to say I knew Joseph Mascali from being best friends with his sister Cathy in our childhood years. He came from such a solid, warm, and loving family. My deepest compassion goes out to the entire family. He is always in my heart and prayers as I find myself confronted with the Mascali name, as I may park on Joseph Mascali Way at times, or find it on Marguerite's Way at my daughters' school, as well as the shrine at the Alba House. It saddens me to see such a wonderful family had to experience this great suffering. Well, he died a hero and became a mentor to all!

I feel deeply honored to have known Joseph. I may have not been very close to him, but I can say I knew him as a caring gentleman. In tribute to his heroism, I hope that many people will watch this video post I have added:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3979568779414136481&q=9%2F11+press+for+truth&total=315&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0
I would like to close up this message with quotes from our Founding Fathers of this great nation:
"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty... Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day... Every generation needs a new revolution." Thomas Jefferson, the main Father of the Constitution and The Declaration of Independence.
"It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from its government." Thomas Paine (1737 - 1809), "Age of Reason"
With that quote being said I have one last quote from Thomas Jefferson:
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."
Please help in the preservation of constitutional law.

We knew Joe way back when times where simpler. We wish we could be there again. At all the parties together, the late night talks on the stoops of all the neighbors on Lyle court, Joe was a man's man, always there to help when you needed him. And even when you didn't, he wanted to help.... Just goes to show how much his job as a NY firefighter overflowed into everyday life. It was who he was. It has been hard to deal with and think about that fateful day for many, lost over a dozen friends, family, customers. To lose someone like Joseph as a friend, there are no words.... I am at a loss! Tears and our hearts go out for all who lost so much.
To Lori, Chris, Jen, and Kaitlyn: We think of you often, and, Lori, you have no idea of how much what you sent to me means to us. It is now part of a memorial wall in our office, tucked away in a shadow box for time, with the other items given to us over the past six years by family and friends. Never give up. Never surrender. We will all be together again on that porch in heaven with much laughter.... Mr. and Mrs. Mascali, thank you for Joe. He was more than any one could have hoped for on this tumultuous earth. Thanks also for this page and opportunity to put some feelings into words.
Sincerely,
Chris, Kris, KC, Jake, Buddy, and Bodie

We just bought Joseph's house in Richmondtown SI. Their is a workbench in the basement where his children wrote in crayon "we love you daddy" "Chris's workbench" "Joey's workbench" " The Mascali's" and "Daddy's workbench" The neighbors told us that Joey built the dollhouse/shed in the backyard for his daughter to play with. They also told us that he was a great guy and that he had died a hero on 9/11. We feel honored to live in his former house and feel we would have liked him although we never met. Yesterday on the fifth anniversary of 9/11 I said a prayer for him and his family. I also saw his picture in the paper and the lovely poem his wife wrote. For now we will leave the crayon markings in tribute to a real man who should have never died with all those other untimely deaths

Today, September 11, 2006 I am thinking of Jospeh Mascali and his family. I met Joseph (Joey) only once. But I remember the loving way he held his daughter in his arms, his warm smile and the sound of his laughter.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
