Dear Joe,
I can't believe its been nearly ten years since 9-11. I feel as if it were yesterday that we were both standing outside of the twin towers. I want your family to know that you're my hero. Years have passed, and there wasn't a time where I didn't think of you and your daughter. Although I only met your daughter a few times, she was always in my prayers! I only worked in the World Trade Center for six months, but it was enough time to grow a liking to you, Joe! It's funny that I used to always tease you whenever you wore your burgundy suit, and it was the suit I saw you in last. Now I understand why I felt so strongly about it.
Some stories are never shared, but I'm ready to share this one that I've remembered and feel so strongly about:
Joe, I was scared standing outside of those towers, not sure if it was best to go back in or stay outside, and you grabbed me as I became hysterical and told me, "Stay out here. I promise I'll be back. I have to help the others." I waited for you as all of the other ABM employees met two blocks away! I never saw you again, and that's when I knew you were gone. I hope that today your family feels a bit of closure.
God bless the Amatuccio family. This is from a person that your dad, husband, brother, son has touched.
Thanks,
Angie Ortiz

Papa,
I cannot even believe that it's been ten years since you passed away. I miss you so much that it kills me every day to know you're not here to make your famous Italian food. I love you so much. You've done so much for me. I miss your kisses every day. I miss Sunday dinners with you. I just pray and wish that one day I can have the strength that you had. You were such a hero! You always thought about everyone else before yourself and worried about everyone. Such a loving, perfect, husband every woman wishes for, as well as a loving grandfather. Every day I stare at the picture that I have in my room of you holding me when I was just a newborn, and I say, "Wow! I miss being in that man's arms." Papa, until we meet again one day, that day will be the best day of my life.... Rest in peace and watch down upon all that meant something special to you.
Love Always,
Your Oldest Grandchild,
Alyssa Marie Willis

You were regarded highly by so many. I never met you, but I am running, hiking, or walking a mile for each of you, and you were dedicated mile #58. Rest in peace.

Dear Joey
Still think of you along with my ex sister in law who worked at the World Trade center but did not go to work that day because her dad had passed away. We pray for your family and ask God to give them the strength to go on. Please be our Guardian Angel,
Pete and Karen

Joey,
My mom found pictures of us when we made our communion at Nativity. Remember sister Michael? I was always getting hit on the hands with the ruler. You would laugh. I think of you often. My Aunt Lena passed on. She belonged to your fan club. Remember when you started smoking a cigar? That was a no-no to her. Our deepest sympathy to your family. Please pray for all of us. Be our guardian angel.

There is no one I could have ever thought of as a hero, but after that tragic day on 9-11, this man, Joseph, still stands
to this day as our hero. I truly witnessed, without physically being there, that very day, Joe's extraordinary efforts in saving people's lives to sacrifice his own. I know because Joseph and Deb helped us. Joe is truly our hero forever and ever.

Never a day goes by that you are not thought of.... Nikki graduates H.S. tomorrow. How time has flown by! She wears the bracelet that Deb sent all the time. Stasia talks of you often to all she comes in contact with. You are greatly missed.
god bless,
Billiejo

Still missing you, Joe. Looking back at my years growing up, you are in those memories. I look back and remember the birthday and Christmas parties, the homemade manicotti, the life of the rich and famous home videos, the company picnic.... In each memory there was joy and laughter because of you. Thank you for those memories.

I am sure God has a wonderful place in heaven for Joseph. He gave his life to save others, and that is the ultimate sacrifice. I never met him but am very touched by his heroic actions. God bless him and his family always and forever.

Let's see: Hero - a person noted for feats of courage. After Joseph Amatuccio made it out of one of the towers, he went back to make sure others were getting out as well. Sounds like a feat of courage to me. So, Joseph Amatuccio is a hero.
I pray that Joe, Rests in Peace, that his family and friends find comfort from the pain and that God continues to Bless America. Oh, does anyone know when Joe's birthday is? Thanks!

Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site.
