Joe and I were next door neighbors in Highlandtown, there was never a day that when we said hello, he did not have a big smile on his face and positive greeting to share.
You will never be forgotten.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to meet Joe back in 1998, while working the insurance program for the Urban Train in Puerto Rico.
What and incredible person and friend. He helped me out tremendously, and we had the time to share incredible moments that I will never will forget.
Great Family Man. Never had the pleasure to personally meet Pam (wife), Chris (Son with a love for Music) and Lauren (Daughter and tremendous softball player). The sole reason I know all this is because he would constantly talk about his beautiful family in our spare times.
Great Cook! I remember one of his trips to Puerto Rico when he brought, and cooked, Italian Sausages because he knew my wife and I loved them.
Great Golfer! We had the chance to play some golf around the Island when he flew down, and no "gimmies" or "mulligans" were allowed.
In one of the comments I read it says that he used to talk about the "Best Pork Shops" he ever had. Well, if it was the ones he had in "La Guardarraya" here in Puerto Rico, they were not only the best, but also tbe biggest.
I truly missed you, my friend! To Pam, Lauren, Chris and his family our most sincere consolation and prayer. We know he was a devoted Christian and we all now have an Angel looking after us up there!
Today, I am 47 years old (same as he was at the time of passing), and work at Marsh Saldaņa, Inc., a subsidiary of Marsh and McLennan, who would have thought...
Rest in Peace Good Friend, we will meet again!

I worked with Joe at MetLife, and what a fun guy he was! Both Pam and I were expecting our first baby at the same time back in 1979. Joe and I would share our thoughts and the symptoms both Pam and I were experiencing, so many years ago. Today, on the 10th Anniversary, I saw Pam read his name during the Memorial service in NYC. I think of Joe and his family on every anniversary. May his family have Gods grace and peace.

I knew Joey when we were teenagers, he was a good friend of my brother Mike Gentile. He was always a nice guy and had a way of lighting up a room when he entered. We think of him often and prayer for his family. He is greatly missed. RIP Joe

I knew Joe Maggitti and his wife and children many years ago when we went to church together at New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Abingdon, Maryland. He was a solid Christian, and although I knew his wife and daughter much better than him, I am at peace that he is with Jesus right now. I was his daughter Lauren's piano teacher. She came to my house when she was maybe 7 or 8.... Now she's all grown, but I still remember teaching her and being friends with her mom. My heart goes out to this family and to all of the victims of this terrible disaster.

I worked at Marsh and McLennan with Joe in the late 80's. Every year on this anniversary, I take a moment to remember him. He was a good friend and an honorable businessman. My thoughts, as always, go out to his family and friends.

Joe was a special person and we think of him often. My husband bid on the famous firefighters raising the American Flag 9/11 and was top bidder. We now have that picture hanging in our house to remind us of Joe. He was a one of a kind person and is missed by all that knew him.

Well, all I know about this guy is that he is related to me. He is my dad's cousin. My dad's name is James Michael Pietro, Sr. Our last name was shortened when my dad was little, so I am not sure how to spell it. But this guy was supposed to baptize me when I was little. Well, when 1-3-08 comes, I will be 17 years old, and yes, I still do want to be baptized, but no, he can't do it, so I want his wife to do it. I really didn't know him, but I really cried when he died 'cuz he is part of my family, and families still have to stick together, no matter what. And in honor of him, I am joining the marines.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe "Magic" at MetLife in 1978-79. Joe was a fun guy to be around. He was a great family man, involved with the community, and just loved life. When I think of the tragedy on 9/11, I always think of Joe. May God continue to be with Pam and her children.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe @ Marsh in the hey day in the Candler Building and then onto the "Marsh and McLennan Building". He treated everyone with respect no matter what their level in the company. Always smiling and joking and always talking about his wonderful wife and family. He always made me laugh at lunch With Susan. I miss those days. Joe I think of you always with prayers for you and your family. I remember you every year with a pendant and hand them out to my friends and co-workers to always remind us to live life without fear and to inspire peace. Thinking of you always. Thank you, Joe.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
