As always, thinking of Karen and her family, with greatest love, and all my prayers.

I remember both Karen and Donna very well from high school. They both were known for their incredible talents both as athletes and scholars. Although it is known that twins share an incredible psychic connection and commonalty the one thing I do remember is that Karen was the comic and the more whimsical while Donna was just a tad more serious about the very things that Karen would find humor in. No surprise that their studies took them in the different direction they did for career choices. My heart goes out to the Klitzman family.

Karen was on my USTA tennis team. She was a beautiful player to watch and great fun as a tennis partner.

On may 3 2011,Karen's brother Robert wrote a piece in the New York Times which is closer to home in many ways than many other pieces about 9/11. It made me visit here.

I shared a quad sophomore year at Princeton with Karen and Deborah (see post on Karen's ice cream comment). This week's news about Osama's death, and her brother Robert's Op-Ed piece in the NYT yesterday, brought back many memories of events ten years ago and beyond. I will always remember Karen's bubbly enthusiasm and her closeness to her family, and particularly her twin, Donna. Often I would come in after studying in the library and find Karen ensconced on our shabby couch, happily chatting away on the phone to a family member, recounting the day's events. She was a conduit of good feelings and an inspiration to all.

I remember 9-11 and Karen. I am an international lawyer who worked with Karen in Russia and met from time to time in New York and London when she was working with NYMEX; On the upcoming tenth anniversary of her death I remember her fondly and miss her intelligence, great sense of fun and company.

Deborah Lewis posted this on her Facebook today. I thought that those remembering Karen today might enjoy this:
Karen Klitzman, who died on 9/11, once told me when I was down that I should eat ice cream because "you can be depressed before you eat ice cream, you can be depressed after you eat ice cream, but while the ice cream is physically in your mouth it is impossible to be depressed." Every year since 9/11 I've taken the kids for ice cream on this day. Consider doing the same.

I remember Karen's incredible sense of humor! She and I did a work/study job together during college, and she always made the time fly with her jokes and smile. While this is a very sad day, I smile as I think of her.

On this anniversary day I recall Karen who I first met when she visited London for Nymex in the early 1990's. We stayed in touch and met both professionally and socially in New York and frequently in Moscow until 2000. She was such a clever dynamic woman and we always had lot fun and laughter whenever we met up. She is very fondly remembered.

I have just learned of this tragedy and loss. I remember how bright Karen was and playing tennis with her in high school.

I remember Donna and Karen from attending high school together. My strongest memory is of the day when I received my driver's license: Karen, Donna, and 9 other friends loaded into my dad's Pontiac station wagon, and I drove them all home from school. Simple memory, but I'm sure it lives on in all 12 of our minds. Rest peacefully, Karen.

At the most unexpected times, and in the most unexpected places, my thoughts will turn to Karen Klitzman and her identical twin sister Donna. I doubt that there have ever been two sisters closer to one another nor two women more gifted and passionate about life. I know the pain of losing Karen will never be completely healed among her family and friends, but please know that there are people like me who--although not still in your everyday life--still think of you, feel for you, and pray that it somehow gets better with time.

I will always remember Karen as an important part of my high school experience. I'll never forget the fun we had. Rest in peace, Karen.

I remember Karen from High School West. We played flute together in band. We didn't know each other well, but I remember her as young woman who was always friendly and sought to excel at what she did.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
