9/11/11 It has been ten years today since the horrific terrorist attack on our great nation. There has not been a day that has gone by since then that I do not think about the victims. My husband, I and our 2 grandchildren (ages 7 and 1 year old) went to church as usual. But today our church held a dedication to the victims of 9/11 by showing a video for everyone. I do not think there was a dry eye in any of the pews. The adults have not forgotten the sacrifice that you and your family have paid. The younger ones that had not yet been born at that time was also moved to tears. The ironic thing is 9/11 is a sad day but also a very happy one for me as my 7 year old grandson was born on 9/11. I like to belive that God did that for a reason, hoping that some day he will make a huge difference in this world to bring something good out of 9/11. All of us went to Lake Eola, Orlando, Fl that evening where the city of Orlando gathered to have a memorial service. It was very moving. We had a candelight vigil and prayed for you, your family and all the other victims. The city had placed 2977 small flags in the ground with the name of 1 victim on each flag. The mayor offered eveyone in attendence to feel welcome to take one or more of the flags home with us. Your name, Kathleen Moran was on one of the flags that we got to keep. We do not know you personally but have found that you worked in the World Trade Center, lived in NY, NY and that you were 42 years old and your birthday was April 5. Your family and friends thought you were a very friendly, outgoing person and that you had an Irish background. My grandson said a special prayer for you and your family at bedtime. You and your family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers always. You will not be forgotten! May God always bless you in heaven and your loved ones here on Earth until they can one day be with you again!

I just found this site today, the 10th anniversary... I attended grammar school with Kathleen for 8 years, at Holy Cross School on Church Avenue in Brooklyn. She was always kind, fun, funny, and even back then, already had the "infectious laugh" that so many people have recalled in their comments. I have only pleasant memories of her. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I am sure she is an Irish angel now, and that she continues to send love and joy and laughter to the world she loved so much. Kathleen, until we meet again, "May the good Lord hold you in the hollow of His hand." Peace.

Kathleen I just wanted to let you know you are in my heart and prayers. I went to school with your sister Bernadette and my mom and your mom were friends. God Bless to you and your family. May your soul ascend on higher into the heavens. RIP. <33

We met Kathleen through work and of all the people we lost on 9/11 we miss her the most. When we talk of her the first thing we mention is her laugh and we end with what a kind person she was to everyone. Also what fun she was! As well as a "sweet little Irish drinking lass", this last is from Jim and is high praise indeed! We both miss her so very much and were so very lucky to have known her.

I still think about my Aunt Kathleen often, and even more so as the anniversary grows closer. She was an amazing person who is missed so very much. The world is a bit quieter without her laugh, but I keep her in my heart everyday. I love and miss you Aunt Kathleen<3

After all these years, I just learned last night (5/20/11) that she perished on that horrible day, while at a gathering of ex-classmates of nearly 40 years ago. Went to Midwood High with her. I immediately remembered her bright smile and joyous laugh. She was a wonderful person. I am so heartbroken.

We used to live on Raleigh Place years ago, my mom told me that Kathleen used to babysit us when we were little. It was nice to find this memorial dedicated to her.

I just found this site by accident today. Kathleen was my best friend, and I miss her every day. Your comments about her laugh are all true. I hear it now.
Ours hearts are forever broken.

I am just seeing this for the first time. I am so moved I had to get not a tissue but a paper towel. THANK YOU all so much for your kind words. She did have the best laugh I ever heard. Yesterday I went to the 9/11 Museum with some of her things. It was hard to let go, but I want the world to know her.
Paul, it was awesome to see your name and the ring. You were so important to her. Also Jackie. I'm not sure I know you, but your posts mean a lot. xo
And to all the Kathleen Morans, make sure you keep a little piece of her with you. This way she lives on.
Thanks so very much. I'm so deeply touched.
Bernadette (her sister)
P.S. I miss you every day xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

To the Morans:
There is still at least one person on Raleigh who still remembers the noisy bunch of dark-haired Irish kids who lived here so long ago. Requiescat in pacem, Kathleen and all who went with her on that terrible day. May the Morans draw strength from the prayers of those, both friends and strangers, who think of her on this day.

I carried in my pocket all day today, a friendship ring of Kathy's that she brought back from Ireland. Kathy's sisters gave me this ring as a gift after Kathy died on September 11th, 2001. I miss my good friend. And I miss the World Trade Center.
Never forget.

I was just spending a quiet evening at home, messing around on the computer, googling myself, when I found this—of course, it's a popular enough name—I never thought of it before, but out of the thousands who died that day, what are the odds in a city so heavily populated by the Irish that there wouldn't be at least one Kathleen Moran among the dead?
To Kathleen, rest in peace. To her family, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
