Today is 9/11/2011. for 9 years on this day we have flown "this" flag in remembrance. The flags were sold by our bank as a fundraiser for nurses education the first year after the attack. Each flag sold also came with a name, our flag was Katies! And, we have flown it in her honor and memory and will continue to do so from now on. She will never be forgotten. We are thinking about you today.
Love,
Kimberly

I was watching the memorial on 9-11-09 and I got a chill when they said Katie's name. As you can tell from my maiden name it is very similar. It was a very touching memorial and your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers always.

From one McCloskey to another: Rest easy, Katie, American-born but Derry-made.

I was in New York last week (March 11-18, 2008) for the St Pat's Parade and went to Ground Zero to get an idea of the events that took place there on 9/11. I was surprised to see my surname on the roll of people who had lost their lives, and when I got home, I looked up Katie on the web. The spelling of our name is very unusual even in Britain and Ireland, and I am sure there must be a connection somewhere between us from the distant past when people were coming from the old world to the new. It really made me aware of the suffering that those people and their families went through on that fateful day. It made the trip so much more poignant, and I wish Katie's family and friends the very best for the future.

A memorial dedication was held on Septemeber 11, 2002 in Vacaville, CA where we purchased a flag in Katie's memory. After watching the Dateline United Flight 93 we decided to check the website in search of some closure to this tragedy. Her memory will always be in our hearts. God be with her family. BLESS THE U.S.A.

I was looking onto John Adams website today, I saw that Katie was a victim of 9/11.  I was in Katie's english, and economics class at John Adams.  I haven't seen her since high school but she left such an impression on me, she hasn't been forgotten.  My heart and prayers go out to the family.

May God be with you,
Trenell Bradley

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
