I was recently priveledged the oppurtunity to climb 110 flights in memory of FF Kevin Prior of Squad 252. The Charlotte, NC Fire Dept hosted this 9/11 memorial climb. I never knew FF Prior, but his photo around my neck gave me a lot of motivation to keep moving up the steps through the event. A lot of love and honor goes out to Kevin and the 342 other Firefighters who paid the ultimate price that horrible day. God Bless.

My name is Lyn OConnor and I am a Sergeant with the San Francisco Police department. I was greatly honored to wear the name and photograph of Kevin Prior at a 911 memorial climb up the steps of our Transamerican building in downtown San Francisco today. Tonight I light a candle in memory of Kevin. I never met Kevin but I will never forget his name and the sacrafice he made 10 years ago. God bless

As the 10th anniversary of 9-11 neared, I wanted to see the names of all the heroes who lost their lives that day, so I went to the internet and found a list. Seeking a more personal connection, I looked to see if anyone shared my name, and that is how I found Kevin Prior. I, too, am a Prior. My paternal grandfather, George Prior, was born in Buffalo, NY, and somehow ended up in Fort Worth, Texas after serving in WW I. As I read various articles and tributes to Kevin it is clear that he was a wonderful son, friend, fiance, brother, uncle, and firefighter. Please know that I will be thinking of him, and all those who knew and loved him, as I reflect on this 10th anniversary of such a tragic day.

I am a police officer from the UK, I went to ground zero last week and cannot express in words how completely overcome with sadness I was when I went to the memorial. It was then that I bought a bracelet and on it was the name of FF Kevin Prior, I searched him on the wall and saw his face. Even though I never knew Kevin, his family or any of the other people who were lost that day, I will wear it with pride and know that in some small way in Chester, England he will be remembered. 10 years may have gone by but they will never be forgotten.

I've seen the sorrow of 9/11 as I live through it, but I did not lose a family member then. On April 23, 2010, my nephew, Sgt Jason Anthony Santora, was killed in Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained while conducting combat operations with his unit, 3 Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, GA.
The pain is unbelievable, and now I truly, fully understand the sadness of your family.... I will never forget. Godspeed, Kevin....

Even though I may not have known Kevin, he was a brother firefighter and will never be forgotten. May god bless his friends and family.

Kevin was my nephew and my husband’s godson. He would light up the room with his smile and family gatherings were always a lot of fun when he was there. Although five years have passed since 9/11 the pain of losing him is with us every day. Kevin lived his whole life in Bellmore. He wanted to be a firefighter from a very early age and used to follow the fire trucks on his bicycle. When he was old enough he joined the Bellmore Fire Department and looked forward to being part of that department for the rest of his life. He loved being a New York City Firefighter and a member of Squad 252 and looked forward to be involved there for the rest of his life. Unfortunately his life ended way too soon at only 28 years old. But Kevin was much more than just a firefighter he was a son, brother, uncle, godfather, godson, nephew, cousin and friend. The empty place in our homes at family gatherings will always be there but the memories of Kevin and how he lived his life will live on forever.
Love you Kevin,
Aunt Carol

Kevin was one who could always make those around him laugh and when you were around him you always had a great time. He was like a third roommate to me when Doreen and I shared an apartment. Paul and I will always remember the fun times we had together, whether it was hanging out in the apartment or going to Jackie Reilly's or JT Noone's. We were so happy for Kevin and Dor when they got engaged and I looked foward to being a part of their wedding party. After 911 I cried so much for the loss of Kevin's life and for Doreen's pain.I could not imagine what she felt. I know that Kevin has been watching over Doreen and has led her to Eddie. Who better to understand Doreen's loss but his best friend?
We think of him often and wonder what life would be if 911 never happened. We miss him!

Kevin Prior was an amazing, loving and caring human being. He was always there to help you out and put a smile on your face. To know Kevin was to love him. I should know this first hand because Kevin was the love of my life for many, many years. He was my fiance and best friend. Our wedding date was all set for July 12th 2002. In fact today would've been our four year anniversary. As I left Kevin his flowers at the cemetery today I could feel his presence. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about Kevin and all the times we shared as well as all the times that were ahead of us and then ripped away from us. Kevin will be in my heart and on my mind forever. I love you Kevin and look forward to the day when I'm greeted by you in heaven... Until then please continue to watch over me and be my guardian angel.
Love always, Dor

- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
