Sitting at home tonight watching the 10th anniversary of 9/11.... its just like yesterday. I knew Kieran well, I babysat their eldest son, Barry.... He was a kind gentle man and adored his wife Ann and his sons. I remember him coming to pick up Barry from our daycare centre in Yonkers and he had to duck his head because he was so tall! Barrys eyes would light up when he saw his da coming to collect him. I cried when I saw his picture on the news, I was devastated for Ann and the boys... I went to his memorial service in December 2001 and by the crowds attending the service it was plain to see how well he was thoughtof... My fiancee and I were over in NY in March of this year and visited the WTC site and went to the museum and looked for his name among all the people and found it and the picture of him in his GAA gear, I cried again... I think about all his family regularly and would like to tell the boys that your da was one of the best.....

Kieran,
I never knew you personally. I am from Sligotown, and I came here to the States in '97. After what happened on that day, I would never be the same. I was flying home one time from Ireland, and I was reading this book. It was called "Fire in the Morning." I was sitting beside a man who saw me reading it. When I was done, he asked me how it was. To be honest, I didn't want to talk to him about it. But to my surprise, he mentioned your name(it was also in the book). He told me that he worked with you just before it happened. I truly thought this man was strange, but as he kept talking, he knew more than I ever did about what happened that day. He told me that you were not meant to go to work that Tuesday. It made me so sad, and I started to cry. Kiernan, what I heard after that was that you were a hero that day, and because of you, I became a firefighter, and I did it in honor of you. Every year I go to ground zero to place my roses for you and your family and to all the other victims that died that day. Kiernan, god bless you. May god keep you safe, and I promise this: I will never forget that day, and I will never forget all of you who are not here with us today. May god bless your family and friends. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

Kieran,
You were a gentleman and a wonderful husband and father. Every September 11 we pray for you, Ann, and the boys. Both Marian and I visited the WTC site in 2006, and we prayed for you. You will always be remembered. God bless.

Today is Sept 11, 2006. I often think of Kieran and what must have went through his head on that dreadful morning 5 years ago today. I often think and pray for his wife Anne and his three sons.... Kieran, I hope you are in a better place... like my brother Michael and his wife Edel commented above, knowing you Kieran, you were helping others up to the end.... God be with you and yours forever.

kieran was lie the gentle giant (aka "the big guy") never liked to see anyone in need, he would give his last penny to someone he thought needed it more than he did. he died a hero that day no doubt hepling others get out he would not leave anyone behind. he was crazy about football. crazy about his family and a very trusting friend. his passing hurts as much today as it did on that horrible day 9/11. we miss you big guy, you have 3 wonderful boys who are going to grow up just like you. rest in peace

I think about september 11th sometimes. When i do think about it, it brings back the memory of my brother living in New York, and the stress I felt when I couldn't contact him for days following this murderous and cowardly act of violence on the American people. I also think about the people who perished, and Kieran Gorman comes to mind. I never knew Kieran personally, but I am from the same county: sligo. I would just like to say sorry to his parents, friends and family. To end this letter I would like to say that life is short, but memories are forever.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
