Remembering you, Larry—"Goya." Found some pictures from the old days in Woodside, "the zoo crew." Those were the days.

You will never be forgotten,
Diane

Larry was also a physical therapist and we lived in the same neighborhood of Sunnyside. I met him at work in Manhattan in '93. Often we would run into each other on the Queensboro bridge riding our bikes to or from work. Always he would ask if I'd quit smoking yet. Larry was great at everything he did. But most importantly he was a strong and gentle soul with a heart of gold. Never will I forget you.

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary, I wanted to look at your pictures but I think your voice said "wait". I will never forget you and never will, especially your heroic selfless bravery on that fateful day. You will always be Awesome!

Four years have passed, and still I feel the shock of that horrible day. I taught your nephews Mike and Nick and for a while, your niece , Lorraine. I was a friend of your sister-in-law, Anne, in Clifton Park. Anne was in France when they lost you, and we e-mailed frequently, mourning your loss. Please know that you are not forgotten.  Love lives on long after we are separated, and the bond is never really broken.

Although I never met Lawrence, I found that I was connected to him in several ways. First of all, he graduated from Power Memorial Academy--my own high school from which I graduated a decade earlier. Secondly, we were neighbors just a block away in Sunnyside, (Queens), NY. His name was honorably mentioned during the Second Annual Power Memorial Academy Mass of Remembrance at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan on 60th St. & Columbus Avenue. A noble memorial tribute with photo is also posted on the Power Memorial Alumni website:

I went to high school with his nephew, Nick in Paris, France.  I consider the men and women who gave their lives in Sept. 11 all heros.  Although I never actually knew Lawrence I feel a connection to him.  In uncertain times in Iraq I thank him for his couragous act.  Thank you FDNY.

Great football player, great friend, and a great brother. His nieces and nephews miss him dearly. Not a day goes by without an "Uncle Larry" story being told.  Pray for us down here. We love you and miss you.  Your only brother,
Tommy

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
