Last night, October 24, 2009, I attended my 40-year reunion for Curtis High School. It was a blast and great to see so many old friends that you grew up with. A few of us were speaking, and we were talking about friends that we mutually had but were not at this event. We wondered where they have moved, or why wouldn't they attend, as you see we had a lot of fun growing up back in the day. Lee's name came up. I grew up with Lee and went to Grammer, Junior High, and High School with Lee. Growing up we always hung out at Silver Lake Park in the summers and played knock hockey on the porch of the clubhouse. We always walked over to his house to hang out. I looked at the reunion book they handed out and saw Lee's name in our departed friends column. This morning I went on the Internet to see if I could find out what happened to Lee. It was very sad to see that Lee was lost in 9/11. When I saw his name last night, I had chills up and down my spine, and now as I write this, I'm holding back the tears because we were pretty close. So, Lee, I hope you are in a better place because you were really a great guy and a great friend. Hello and goodbye, my friend.

This morning I set my alarm for 5:30 am so I could drive to the Memorial Auditorium and donate blood.

After I checked in I was given a sign to wear. It says
"This pint donated in memory of Lee Charles Ludwig"

It is an honor to wear this today. We live in a small town and hopefully we will have 911 pints donated by the end of the day.

I just wanted people to know that these people are not forgotten.

Thank you,
Kay Leighty

I used to live on the same street with Lee and his family. I have thought of him and his family often since I heard of his passing. My heart goes out to Michelle and their 2 children.

hi i worked with lee at irving trust at 120 broadway maybe around 1985 or so.he was a really nice guy.we didnt work on the same floor but sometimes myself and another worker (her name was joann i think)would need his help with certain matters.we would hang out at his desk for a short while he was alot of fun to be around and i remember him speaking about his wife michelle, that's how i connected with the fact that he was a victim because it was about 2 years ago that I saw an article in newsday about a widow named michelle ludwig and it was then that I realized it was lee. at first they published his name as charles and I never knew him as charles. well, I just want to express my sincere sorrow for his family and to say my prayers are with all of you

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
