Reflecting back upon 9-11-01 ten years later, I wanted to express my feelings on Facebook. I remembered that I had purchased a bracelet with the name Leonard M. Castrianno on it. I will be paying tribute to Lenny on my Facebook page tomorrow, in some small way keeping his memory alive, and paying tribute to one lost far too soon.

You are greatly missed, Lenny. We are thinking of you today and always. We still talk about you often. You had an energetic and enthusiastic personality. We lived the time we had with you. You will always be remembered.
Love, Noel and Mark

Dear Castrianno Family,
I live in Des Moines, Iowa and on the week prior and following September 11th, we had a memorial set up with 2,998 flags representing all of the fallen heroes at the World Trade Center. I purchased a flag and all of the flags have ribbons with everyone's name and I was fortunate enough to get Leonard's ribbon. I looked up his website and read some of the comments. They were very touching. I would love to send you his ribbon. You can contact me at Skallywagsbook@yahoo.com.
Kindest Regards,
Deanna Reed.

I did not know you but wrote this tribute to you in honor of your memory:
Five years ago today, the United States began the day very routinely, with people going to work, heading away on airplanes for business, taking kids to school, reading the paper, or watching the news with a cup of coffee.
A young man named Leonard M. Castrianno also started his day in a routine way. Leonard was a broker with the firm Cantor Fitzgerald, 30 years old and known as a friendly, sociable person who loved his family very much. Leonard lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and was eternally optimistic on life.
Like 2,996 other victims that day, Leonard died at the hands of 19 Islamic terrorists, funded and trained by Osama Bin Laden's network, Al Qaida. Leonard died in the World Trade center where he worked, trapped on the 105th floor and unable to escape because of the fire and damage to the building that occurred when the passenger jet loaded with fuel and passengers slammed into it on that sunny morning.
Leonard left behind two loving parents, a twin sister Leigh, and another sister Lynn. The love between the family members is very evident by the words of his mother:
"Dear Leonard,
Thank you for being my son. You were always a perfect son to me. Your love for you family was beyond anyone but you to achieve. Your love for your sister Carolyn, always being there for her. The lunches and the weekends picking her up or taking her home. Your love and closeness for your twin sister Leigh and your love and respect for your sister Lynn. Your love and respect for me (your mother). The good times we had visiting you in NYC and the great dinners and plays will always be remembered. The first class treatment you gave us. You are greatly missed and loved."
FOREVER IN MY HEART MOM
His father similarly left touching words in a memorial to his only son:
"Dear Son,
I keep going back to that wonderful evening we spent together on October 11th 2000. You sent the limo for me, gave me my 1st subway ride even though I had lived in NYC for ten years earlier. Then going to Ben Bensons for dinner, sitting and talking until almost midnight. I was so happy and proud of you that night I went back and woke up some of my associates to brag. I miss and love you so much and don't stop thinking of you or bragging about you.
Love Dad"
May God keep and comfort Leonard Castrianno's family, may He touch the hearts of all those who loved and lost on September 11th, 2001.
May He protect America from danger, evil, and enemies within and abroad.
Let us live like Leonard did, with an endlessly positive view on life, with open friendliness, and loving like we have nothing to lose. God bless Leonard, and God bless America.

Leonard was one of the most positive people I've ever met. He was kind, generous and giving. There's honestly not one day that goes by that I don't think of him. He has definitely taught me one thing about life, Live for today, tomorrow may never come. I love you buddy!

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible.
