My mother, Patricia, was born a Callahan. Her grandfather, Patrick, was from Corning, NY. Her father, Andrew, was a doctor in Buffalo, NY. I am writing today to say thank you for your courage, love of your fellow human, and for serving your city and country with honor. God bless you.

Liam,
You are a relative that I did not know existed until after your tragic death. I have learned all the wonderful things about you from your other relatives. I just wish I had known you. My two sons are police officers, and I will be a very proud mother if they turn out half as good as you. May God bless your soul and look out for your family.

I am glad to see that this site is still here. I posted in 2005 about Liam and a memorial medal with his name engraved on it. I just wanted to let you know that I have not forgotten him, and the medal is around my neck on this 9-11-08. People ask about the medal, and I share the info that I have about Liam. I will always remember, and I want others to remember also. God bless you, and God bless America.

I remember Mr. Callahan from church at St. Cecilia's. He was always such a warm and welcoming person. I pray for his family, and I have to believe that he is at peace with God and watches over his wife and kids. God bless you all.

One week after 9/11 I ordered braclets and necklaces with NY firefighters and police officers names on them. They are much like the bracelets we wore during Vietnam with MIA/POW names on them. I gave all of them away to firefighters and policemen over the past few years except for Llaim's. I just couldn't let him go. Although I never knew him I felt like I had! I feel so many emotions when I wear his name, rank, nypd symbol and the date around my neck or even hold it in my hand. I am so very proud of him and the sacrifice he made while trying to save others. I am proud of his Irish heritage that I also share. I am proud of his family because I know that they are ultimately strong because of his strength and leadership. Sometimes though when I hold that name in my hand and read that name it hurts way down inside in my gut, and thats when I cry. I'm not sure if I cry for him, myself, those who really knew him or if it's not just for all of us. What I do know is that I will never, ever forget! Some how in some way Llam is now a part of me and will always remain not only a name around my neck but a sweet spirit in my heart.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
