Dear Lourdes:
Today we commemorate the tenth anniversary of that horrible, tragic day for you, for the other 3000 victims, for your families and friends and for our country. I am sure that today every American is grieving. As always I have you in my prayers as well as the others who died that day. Even though I didn’t know you, you are very special to me. We share the same name, and I have prayed for you since then. May you rest in peace, and may your family and friends find comfort and resignation. May our country learn from this tragic event in our history. All my love, Lourdes Iznaga Croharé

My Dearest Lourdes,
Time has a way of keeping memories alive. I feel your presence all around my house. It is so peaceful and serene here. Tomorrow will be 10yrs and you remain alive in many ways. May you live in peace forever up in the heavens. I commemorate you always daily and on 9/11. God bless you!
Your sis in law,
Gladys Mateo

Lourdes was a very good friend of my family. She knew my mother Leticia Lopez, my dad Luis Lopez, my aunt Carmen Lopez, my cousins Migdalia Ponce and Yolanda Ponce and she also knew my uncles Gabriel Torres and Miguel Agront amongst many others. She was a sweet person and always made us smiles. May she forever rest in the arms of the Lord and be at peace. We love you and miss you every day girl...you rock!

[Ed. - I don't know why, but five minutes ago you came to mind, even though I never knew you. Rest in peace.]

It's a somber day today, and I was thinking of you. I hope that you are happy in the heavens above, close to Petey.  xoxoxo

[How much I lament the loss of all these victims that died 9 years ago, including you, my dear cousin. I never managed to know you but just knowing that you are a family member broke my heart so! REST IN PEACE, COUSIN, AND ALL THE VICTIMS!

Dear Lourdes:
Here we are, another anniversary of that tragic day. I never knew you but will always pray for you and your family, just as I always have since that day. You see, I found you by chance, and my name is Lourdes too. May God always be with you, and comfort your grieving family and friends. Love, Lourdes I. Crohare

My dearest sister-in-law, how much I miss you! I can't describe how much I wish you were here right now. Time goes by so fast, and the pain still resides as strong as the first day. I smile when I think of you, how you had such a jolly personality and were so willing to be helpful. So many people have grown since the devastation, and the pain is expressed in their lives, as it is in my life. I have you here now. Thank you for the special times.... It is priceless. You will always give me great emotions. In honor of you, Lourdes Galletti.

Lourdes, my friend and sister in law, it's going on 9 yrs and I can still remember your laughter and sense of humor. Those were the good old days and I will treasure them forever. If it wasn't for you, I will never have the wonderful family I have. Kris and Willie always thank you for making us a happy family. We love you, miss you and your spirit will always be remembered you live forever!

[Ed. -

Dear Lourdes,

I didn't know you, but in some manner and for some reason that I still don't know, destiny wanted me to find your name. I am a survivor of the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11. Many innocent and heroic lives, like yours, were lost there, too. I lost more than forty fellow workers and some close friends, like our good friend Diana Padro de Arecibo. I have always been curious to know how many Puerto Ricans died on that fateful day. And that was what led me to find you. I pray for you a lot and mainly for the spiritual peace of your family. To me it is an honor to know you, Lourdes. I know that God has received you in his bosom just like our Diana and all the heroes who fell that day.

With the greatest respect,
Juan]

I had no idea that one of my high school friends was lost on this tragic day. May God bless your family and give them comfort. You never get used to someone being gone ... you just learn to live with it. My deepest sympathies to your family and loved ones!  :'(

My dear "cousin", I am so sorry you had to leave us so soon, my warmest memory is of her laughing at my antics and loving to dance to freestyle music. Lourdes and I grew up together when she came to live in the River Park Towers buildings. My mom Maria Socorro is her godmother and was the almost identical twin of Lourdes mom (Millie) as many of you who knew us remember. She is dearly missed and I am so glad that we bonded more than ever the last few years she was with us. She got to meet my 1st born son Armando and we have pictures of her holding him and she loved to call him her "cutie patootie". I am glad cousin that you are in a better place and I pray that you are dancing and singing to freestyle music and watching over the loved ones you left behind. We love you and always remember you. Love Brigitte, Socorro (Madrina) de Manati, P.R, and my sons Armando and Tony.

Today is 9/09/2009, a very special day and the 8th Anniversary of the worst day in the history of our country. As always I have you, yes especially you, and the other 3000 victims and their surviving families in my thoughts and in my prayers. I have come to feel you as my special friend. May God keep have you in His Glory!

Today is very somber. The thought is overwhelming this 8th year. Honor you in thought as I always do. Your spirit will always be remembered you live forever!

[Ed. - I am a niece of Juan Galletti, who was (I think) Lourdes' great-grandfather. I intensely researched the "missing victims" of 9-11 until I found the name of Lourdes Galletti Diaz. I quickly communicated with my family in Puerto Rico and discovered that she was a granddaughter of my brother's cousin. I am very, very sorry for losing this relative. Although I personally didn't know her, I love all my family, so I suffer their suffering. I give my eternal condolence to all her family because the pain is eternal. Lourdes, may you have a very special place in heaven because the special places are for special people.]

[Ed. - Today is one day more that we remember you, as always. We have done it since what happened happened, but your family always remembers you. I didn't know you well, but I am Elizabeth's (Tata's) daughter. May you rest in peace. God bless you. Now you are in a better place.]

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
