Johnny was my cousin. I remember how he used to laugh at all of the really silly jokes that my father (John) told. He was the nicest guy, and I always remember thinking how cool he was when I was a kid. I remember the day that he married his sweetheart, Rachel. The ceremony was simple and thoughtful, just like the two of them. It broke my heart when I heard that he was gone. We weren't close — my Dad's family wasn't like that — but I do hold a special place in my heart for my cousins. Now he rests overlooking the site where he passed away. God bless him and his family.

There is a memorial that some of the guys in Brooklyn set up on the corner of Graham and Conselyea to remember all the people in the neighborhood who were murderd that day. Because my brother is one of them, I was reading the plaque and saw John's name. I don't believe it's John! It can't be! There has to be another John Crisci! But I found out that it is the same John I went to grammar school with.
We were in the same class at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. We lost touch after eighth grade, even though we still lived in the neighborhood. John was the sweetest kid. He never got into trouble and was always kind. In fact, he was such a good kid that even the nuns liked him. I was surprised to see that John had become a firefighter. With his personality I thought he would become a teacher or someone in the medical profession. Yes, with his personality and compassion, he was destined to be someone whose career would be to help and heal and firefighting is one of those special careers.
All 911 calls are answered with New York's Bravest at the forefront, and they are not only brave, they also have true compassion for those in need and stop at nothing to save lives. John is a very special man. It is an honor to say we went to school together.
My heart breaks for his famiy.

I never knew you John--not personally, but from the smiles, the kindness, the sadness in your family's eyes. They have shared their thoughts with me, their love for you--they have shown me that love as seen within their eyes. John, I can truly say I feel a tenderness and love for you as if I had known you for some time. This sharing could only have come from a family filled with love in their own hearts toward a father, husband and friend--toward you, John. You will forever be in our hearts and even though I can not know you, I feel that I have touched you somehow through the loving family that I have grown also to care for and love from afar. It was YOU, JOHN, that taught that love and kindness and now it will florish within your son's lives and through their sons and forever. I can't thank your family enough for sharing you with me in a tiny way--but in such a way that has imprinted upon my heart--ESPECIALLY on this anniversary, 9-11-06

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
