I did not know Harvey and Stephen personally but IIRC one or both were members of the NY Skyliners Drum and Bugle Corps. Being a Skyliner myself, that gives me a sense of family to both these men. Today on the 10th Anniversary of 911 they are both on my mind and my thoughts go out to them and to their family! May they never be forgotten!

Thinking of you and your brother Harvey as we approach the 10th anniversary of events of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. You were both a part of my life in drum corps with the OLPH Ridgemen and will never be forgotten. God Bless you both and your families. Love, Joanie

My name's also Stephen Harrell, age 16, out of Tazewell, TN. I was only a kid on the fateful day of 9/11, but I remember it as if it were yesterday. We lost a lot of GOOD people and AMAZING heroes who gave their lives and are still giving their lives to this day to protect us. God bless each and every one of the victims of 9/11. Thank you, and Godspeed.

I just read your thoughts about Stephen. He was my uncle, I met him in 84 when my husband introduced us. He always had a good Italian joke to share at the table. He said that was the bad part of me and the Irish was the good. I have met all his old pals at many memorials. There was never a bad thing said. He took pride in being a Skyliner. Wow could he blow a horn. I miss him very much. I am sure that he is watching us and God is taking care of him.

Stephen was a former student and forever friend from Staten Island. I was his teacher and we worked together to achieve his GED and then prepared for the FDNY exam. We also ran a summer youth employment program at the Children's Museum and Cromwell Center. Steve and I were connected through Drum Corp too. I was an OLC Rambler and he was NY Skyliner. His brother Harvey was also a great friend of my brother, Ken. Stevie and I partied for many years in Brooklyn and SI. We were the best of friends during the 70's. God Bless Your Beautiful Soul Steve. I am sorry I didn't call you right back and never had a chance to meet your wife and little girl that you loved so much. I also wish my family had a chance to know you too.
With love always,
Barbara

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
