I came to know you due to 9-11. I was the police dispatcher that took the call that you were missing. I was informed that you had a daughter that was being cared for by a neighbor since the attack and you had not contacted her. Your car was still at the station, and there was no word to where you were. I have remembered your name for the past 10 years and I believe that I will forever. I pray for you and for your daughter each year. I never knew you but I will remember you always. Prayers to you and your family.

My name is Janice Beckles I have known Manette a very long time before I became a Beckles. I am married to her cousin Darryl. Manette and I used to meet over a mutal friends house and dish the dirt on boys. My brother Robert, her cousin Darryl and others, we had fun. I miss her because of family and childhood history. But especially for our children to know each other. Brandy we miss you as well. Manette we miss you dearly.

Manette Beckles was a friend first then became family. I am married to her cousin Darryl Beckles. Manette we miss you dearly. A day doesnot go by when I do not think of you and your daughter Brandy. Manette and my brother Robert Townsend were close and that is where our friendship grew from. Miss you.

Nat, as I called her, is my biological first cousin. We were raised by our grandfather, Mr. Robert A. Beckles, on 99th street at 31-47. My cousin and I went to St. Gabriels and Flushing High together. After high school I enlisted into the service. So our closeness somewhat changed, and then we became grown, going our own ways, but still keeping in touch. I would like to tell my cousin's daughter, Brandice, that I, too, miss her mother very very much and would like very much to know that she is alright. Love sent to all who have written comments and had a loving memory or something nice to say. May GOD bless us all, and may we keep our lives in prayer.

Manette,
I have just learned of your demise, and I am deeply saddened by the news. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and to your family, particularly to your loving daughter. We consulted together in the Financial Industry. I remember our many conversations and your keen advice to the everyday single mom syndrome. You remained a consultant, and I gave in to a permanent job. You were the strong one, willing to take risk to provide the best for your daughter. I missed our conversations, but no news was good news. A part of me always knew you could have been a 9/11 victim, but as long as I didn't hear from you, I still had hope. Today the hope is gone forever. Thank you for sharing your strength. May god protect, comfort, and guide your daughter in the direction down the path you have paved for her. Rest in peace, my sister, with all my love.

I grew up with Manette on 99th in East Elmhurst, Queens. What a block we lived on! We where all very young, but we all never forgot how much fun we had. I ran into Manette's brother some time ago, and he informed me that Manette had perished in the attack. I was so hurt and couldn't believe it. Manette, my sister, rest in peace.

I never knew you, but by the way they speak so highly of you, you sound like a very sweet, loving, and kind-hearted person. May your soul rest in peace.

Mannette,
I don't know you, but as my father would tell us, all BECKLES are related. May you rest in peace.

Dear Manette,
Your mother and I were first cousins, and I remember when you were born. I moved away from New York and lost touch with your mother. I always heard good things about you. May you rest in peace.

Manette,
We weren't friends, but I remember you always being pleasant and nice while passing each other in our building where we both lived in Mount Vernon. We said the usual "Hello. How are you?" greetings to each other. I would often see you waiting on the platform to take Metro North to Grand Central station. I remember you having a daughter close to my daughter's age; I know she misses you every hour of every day. I know you're in a better place now and among God and his angels. Rest in peace.

Manette was a fellow worker of my daughter, Michelle M Henrique. Michelle would tell how good Manette was to her family. She and my daughter were both very giving people. I hope that they have the rewards that the lord promised to the faithful. May god bless her and her family.
Sincerely,
Patricia Henrique (Michelle's mom)

I went to St. Gabriel's elementary school with Manette. Although we lost touch when we went off to high school, I always remembered Manette and the sweet person she was. I remember that when we were in the 4th grade, I had fallen and hurt my back. I was out of school for over a month. Manette would come to my house at lunch time and bring me my classwork assignments and help me keep up with the work.
I now live in Orlando, FL, and when I heard that Manette was a victim of that tragic day, on my first visit back in 2004, I made a trip to the site of the towers and offered my prayers and thanked Manette again for being the warm caring person she was to me.
She is a special angel.

I was searching the web looking for people with the Beckles last name then I came across Manette Beckles. R.I.P. Our country is still tormented by this dreadful day that will always be a part of our lives.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
