I lived next door to Manny DelValle Jr, and was a good friend of his fathers. I saw him grow in his early years. He was bright and charismatic for his age. I only saw him once as an adult and he grew into the man I knew he would.

My name is Julie and my husband is a firefighter in Sacramento,California. Today on the 10th anniversary. The firefighters are climbing 110 stories in memory of their fallen brothers in new York. Each one is wearing a name of a firefighter to honor them. My husband is honoring manny today. They gave a paper with his picture and information about him. It said that he loved to give tours to the kids and so does my husband. My prayers and thoughts are with you today. So sorry for your loss.

This is your cousin Nevin here in Denver. Your picture is on my wall at my office, and I use it for inspiration. You will always be a hero to the family, and we love you. Peace be with you.

Today is the ninth anniversary of the most tragic event our country has ever experienced to date. I met Manny about 12 yrs ago while living in Miami, FL. I always remember Manny with a big smile on his face. I'll always cherish the memories of the fun times he had with Christian Dunham, and all the boys back from Boston. RIP my Boricua brother, watch over us all and you will forever always live on in our hearts and minds.

To my man Manny, whom I knew from high school in Brookline, Mass and who is sorely missed. Manny will never be forgotten for his heroic deeds on 9/11 and will remain with me in spirit for the rest of my days.

It is true what was written, beautiful and meaningful thoughts to honor a hero and a friend to all, a friend one of many.

I would like you to know that I visited the new 9-11 museum yesterday and purchased a stainless steel memorial wrist band with the following inscription on it:
FF MANUEL DELVALLE
9/11/01 WTC FDNY
I will be wearing his bracelet every day, every month, and every year, as a reminder of his heroism and sacrifice "just doing his job." I am from the greater Boston area, which I read was so special to him.
Thank you, Manny, I am your brother. 343—NEVER FORGET!

Hey Manny,
The holidays are here again, and things just aren't the same without you. We still miss you dearly, but we'll make the best of it because that is what you would want. Hope you have a blessed Christmas in heaven!
Love,
Your cuz, Marisol

I am a close friend of Manny's sister, Nolly, and met Manny when he was fresh out of college in his early 20's. What I remember most about him is his incredible sense of humor and his love for good music and dance. My thoughts and prayers are with Nolly and her entire family on this solemn occasion.

Hi Manny, my prayers and thoughts are with you, especially today. We did not have enough time in PR, miss you. I haven't been back to PR, it would just not be the same without you.

Hi Manny,
I did not have enough time with you, and we left off with many questions unanswered. There is not a day which can pass without me taking a deep breath and remembering you. I know you are shining over us, but I still wish I could have just one minute more with you. I miss you!

My Dear Manny, Manolito, Engine 5 Supermodel,
Hi. With all of the reminders today, it's so difficult. I was late for work waiting to see your name on the CNN ticker tape as I have done every year. I even took a picture of your name today. I know it's not you, but seeing your name brings to me a loud cheer and of course tears. Then I laugh because you always knew you were a superstar and that you would be on TV. Yep, you got your name in lights! You are truly my hero, and I get to share your heroism with the entire USA. You were always so brave. 7 years have passed all too quickly. It seems like just yesterday you were trying to get me to visit New York again, trying to convince me that it wasn't as dirty anymore. Being reminded of those efforts always makes me smile. Manny, I miss getting my birthday cards from you (you never forgot). I still have every single one you ever sent, and I read them often. It's very difficult, but I read them, and my tears turn to smiles and then laughter. Every thought of you is that way ... tears of loss, and then smiles, and then laughter from the oh-so-wonderful memories. I talk to you just about every day (as you know). I think you hear me. I still always look to you for advice, especially with the fellas--and as you said about most of mine ... "He's a bum!" ha ha ha. Oh, I miss you soooo. We need more time. I think of your family, especially Manny Sr. and Nolly, and if I can hurt this much, I can only imagine their heartache. They are always in my prayers. The saying "Friend for Life," you, Manny, own it, this life and all the rest to come. I can't wait to see you again, my friend. You know, we're having Chinese! Love you. Miss you. You are forever in my heart. Eternal friendship.
Luv,
"Roz" Roslyn Los Angeles

Manny D,
Peace, Bro. You know I had to give you a "cyber-style" shout out today. You know know how we do. You know, I always tell people that you are a hero not just because of your bravery on 9/11. You are a true hero because of the love you spread every day. I can't think of anyone who can make people smile the way that you can. You are a gift to us.
I promise not to write of you in the past tense. Your spirit is with all of us each and every day. I miss schooling you on the court, though....stick to cross-country running and body building. Leave hoops to us BK cats!
I pray that God continues to keep you close to him in heaven. Please continue to watch over me, Little Cam, your family, friends - all of us - we need it. Love you, man.
- Big Cam

Your life was a life that gave value to the concept of courage and love. Your spirit rises above the darkened mist of that early September morning that cast its shadow over the core of humanity. Your life, your love, was a light in this world. That light remains a beacon within your family, in your sister's smile, in her beauty. Though she carries the pain of your loss, she also carries the light of your light. Sleep well, sweet prince.

Manny was introduced to me by a group of my close college friends from the Boston area. When I met him, I felt like I had known him for years. We hung out a little in NY, and I still regret not being able to go on that Miami trip with him and those friends...but I'll never forget his smiling and laughing face in those pictures from Miami. Manny was the kind of person who elevated all those around him. I was crushed to see his picture in the paper along with so many who sacrificed so much that week. His positive energy and strength of spirit, while sorely missed, lives on in all those who knew him. One Love Manny.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
