Maria, I was visiting New York for the first time and went to the beautiful 9-11 memorial. As I walked along the pools, I just walked up as if I was drawn and read your name after being there just a few minutes, Cooincidence? I think not, there are no cooincidences. I was just drawn to that particular area. I came home and had to read about you. The visit was so surreal. I just felt a connection, you will always be in my prayers. May God bless you and your family and you and all of the people that perished on that day will never be forgotten. Maria-New Orleans, Louisiana

We worked together a few years before that uneventful day in 2001. You had an infectious and fun laugh. I remember the pictures you put on your desk of Mozart. You will not be forgotten, Maria..

I don't know you, but I still want to make sure that you know you're loved. And I also have to say that you are special in your own way. Even though I might not know you, I have to say that I'm sure that you are unique in some way.

Maria, we met in homeroom 705 in 1994 at St. Joseph's high school. You were a great classmate. I remember you, Lakisha, and I went to hang out one day after school. I also remember Lakisha's sweet sixteen and the fashion show we were in at St. Joe's. I saw the readings of the names yesterday and your picture was there and the reality hit me that you are gone. I hope you are resting peacefully. God Bless your family and close friends:-) Love Lisa

I went to St. Joseph High School when Maria attended. We were in different grades. We had a few encounters. Although they were brief, I still got to see her sweetness. I was very saddened to hear that she was in the towers that day.

R.I.P...STILL IN OUR THOUGHTS! WE LOVE YOU!

My dear, beautiful cousin,

I was serving time when you passed away, and it brought deep sadness to my heart when I found out that you were in those towers. It made a hole in my heart to know that a wonderful person like yourself is no longer around, but I still have you in the memories in my heart, which I treasure. Maria, I also have a picture that you gave me which, up to this date, I carry with me 24/7. Maria, Me, Luis, Cielo, and David will forever miss you soo much. We love you, Maria. May you rest in peace, cousin.

September 11 is three days from now. My sister Maria, my nephew Christopher, and I will be going to the memorial at lower Manhattan. It is important to go because we can never forget Maria Isabel Ramirez and others. Who can ever forget September 11, 2001? So many people lost their lives. The agony that family members and friends went through! We will always keep Maria in our prayers. We will always remember her beautiful smile. Yes, we do feel sadness and pain. The sadness is that Maria is not with us, but we have to remember that she will always be remembered in our memories; she will always be in our hearts, and the pain that her family and friends went through. May she rest in peace, and may God bless Maria.

Michelle, one of your most dearest cousins, prays for you every night. She carries a locket around her neck with your picture in it. "Rest in Peace" girl and remember "We love You"

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.
