I didn't know you, but sometimes felt like I did.... I am so sorry. It has been several years now, and I've always wanted to post my thoughts, but I felt that I shouldn't. Now, after several years, I feel that I can. I know you were a wonderful person, and I also know you were a wonderful mom and wife. I wish the best for your family always. God bless to all.

There is never a day that goes by that I don't think of you and what a wonderful person you were. I have a picture of you hanging in my cubicle, and I talk to you often. You will never know how much I miss you.

Love you!

Tomorrow would have been your 54th birthday. I hope you and all of our family that have passed celebrate in the Serva fashion! I will toast you and all that you meant to me tomorrow. Miss ya!

I met Chris a few years later, and she has a tattoo on her ankle ... that simply reads "MOM 9-11-01". Her Mom is ALWAYS with her....

Marian was the first military wife friend I knew, I should explain. My husband Ben was stationed at Ft. Ord for our first duty. Marian and Bruce and a very young Christina lived downstairs. I learned quickly that Marian was NOT someone that was afraid to speak her mind! We shared some tears of sadness, but way more tears of laughter.
We shared late night talks when both our husbands were away. We shared more than a few scary thunderstorms, and a most frightening earthquake! She taught me that there is nothing wrong about sticking up for yourself, and sometimes raising your voice a decible level can be a very effective military wife's tool. Because Marian was my first military wife friend, we had a difficult time saying good-bye. We did manage to keep in touch over the years. When my daughter Amanda had to be seen at Walter-Reed, we stayed with the Serva trio. She was always ready to help if she could.
But mostly she cared. It stll hurts, lady friends are hard to come by. Loved you like the sis I didn't have, miss you more.

I was  deeply saddened by the loss of Marian Serva....our last names are the same and there are  very few Servas in the U.S....maybe we could be  related....Angelo Serva

Marian was a very beautiful person.  She enjoyed her work at the Pentagon, and the people she worked with (especially Kathy).  She loved her husband Bruce and her daughter Christina.  When she wasn't at work her every effort was directed toward them.  She and Bruce were just starting a new phase of their life since Christina had just left for college.  She was so proud of Chris. and I'm sure still is today.  She is missed by many.  I often find myself thinking about her and the phone chats we used to have.  I miss them and I miss her.  Marian was my sister.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
