I remember Mark from Scudder. He was unfortunately thrust into managing a bunch of executive assistants, and we gave him hell. But he was even-keeled and quite nice and always had nice things to say. I know it's been years, but I still think about working with him, and a small smile plays upon my lips. He is missed.

Mark and I were roommates in Portland Maine in 1981. He was the first friend I made on freshman orientation day just 12 months earlier. We were two guys from two different worlds on their own for the first time. I was from a small working-class town and remember my first impressions of Mark as being sophisticated and worldly, yet super friendly and extremely funny. We were always laughing... his love of life was contagious. We voted for the first time together (for John Anderson!) in November of 1980, we registered for the draft writing "Give Peace a chance" in the margins of the registration form, we were together when we heard the news of the Lennon assassination... that event was huge for Mark.

But mostly I remember Mark because he taught me to look over the horizon, to be curious about the outside world. We met at a critical moment in my life and he played a big part in putting me on the road that has brought me where I am today.

I honor him today on this tragic anniversary.

His sincere smile, wry wit, and ever twinkling eyes brought warmth to many.

I went to high school with Mark. He was a great guy who had a lot of friends and always had a smile and a quick wit.
I found out about Mark's passing a week or two after 9/11 from friends I keep in contact with who were also classmates. As horrifying as the events of 9/11 were, the enormity of the tragedy didn't hit home until I realized that I was touched in very personal way, losing a good friend.

I just found this site today, 9/11/2007, and I'm glad I did. My thoughts and prayers are with Kim and all of Mark's family on this 6th anniversary of his passing and to let them know that Mark will never be forgotten. He was that special.

I've thought about Mark many many times since 9/11. I worked closely with Mark during my tenure at Scudder. I'm so sad that I was unable to attend the memorial service that was held for him. I had left Scudder and so was not notified in time.

Mark was a true gentleman; he was honest, funny, warm-hearted, kind and very smart. It was an honor to work with him. My condolences to Kim (whom I met once, at Grand Central Terminal) and to the rest of his family.

It is so heartwarming to read all of these special tributes to Mark. Of course we (his family) will never forget him. But it is really nice to know that many others that he had touched continue to remember him as well.

You are not forgotten. You had a beautiful smile, and kind eyes. Although I didn't know you that well, I do know that you are missed deeply by many, many people. My prayers and heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family on this fifth anniversary. You were taken away from this earth far too soon.

I was Mark's roomate at the University of Southern Maine; He was also my Best Man when I got married. Our lives took us to different places and we lost touch. The other day I saw a teenager in Portland, ME that looked very similar to Mark and it pormpted my interest in trying to track him down. Imagine my surprise when I did an internet search trying to find his address that I shoul find out he had died at the WTC.

Not many days have gone by since I lost touch with him that I did not at least think about all of the good times we had. I wish I had made more of an effort to keep in touch with him and also wish I knew what his life was like after we lost touch...

I joined Scudder in NYC in 98 as a clerk and Mark was my manager at the time. In this position I worked hard and showed an interest in the accounts that my Portfolio Managers had and when a position opened up as porfolio analyst he looked at me and gave me the chance to move up to this position. Whenever this horrible anniversary arrives I always think of Mark who looked at a young man and gave him the chance to better himself. For this I will always thank you.

You are in my thoughts, and many of the other Boston boys, especially at this time of the year due to the horrific 9/11 anniversary but also to counter that are the great times we had together on our annual late August golf weekend, which just passed. All 16 of us toasted you in VT., as we do every year and many will run in the MJMJ in October. Your spirit and positive attitude will always remain with us.

He was a very special person.  He always knew how to laugh at the stupidity of every day "bull....".  I cannot think of 9/11 without remembering him and honoring his memory.  He made people laugh and was a kind and honest man - no better thing can be said about someone.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.

24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.

24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.

The video below is a song you might like by 24K Gold Music shows, called Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
