Dear Marlyn, I never met you. From the stories I hear about you, you would have been a delight to meet. I am a friend of your mom and dad. They miss you terribly... You are an Angel in heaven and I know you are watching over them. Perhaps one day, I will get the chance to meet you too. You have touched so many hearts. May you rest in peace... xoxo

I never knew Marlyn but think of her often. Today, and every year at this time, I wear a bracelet with her name on it that I received randomly. Love and prayers to Marlyn and the family and friends left behind.

My family always remembers Marlyn and her time with us in Finland. fondly. I have just been to New York and ground zero for the first time since and was filled with sadness we would never know each other as adults, thinking about how my life has changed in the last ten years and wondering what your life would be like now. I will always remember you

Marlyn, my love, my angel, my sister in Christ,
I knew you since we were in first grade, and you helped me get my "Hello Kitty" stamper back from someone who stole it. I always think about you. You are forever in my heart, and I would be honored if my daughter grew up to be half the great woman of God that you were. You were and are my role model. I love you, and I can't wait to see you in heaven. Please watch over my daughter Faith.

Marlyn was an amazing young woman who had the intelligence and charisma to achieve all her goals in life. She touched everyone who met her with love and happiness. She was incredibly loved, and she is terribly missed. In remembrance of someone who touched so many lives at such a young age. I feel blessed to have had her and her family in my life. You will never be forgotten!

Marlyn was my 5th grade student at BRCA. I have had so many students over the years and have not remembered them all yet I will always remember Marlyn. Marlyn was special. She had a heart for God. She was wise beyond her years. She was caring and nurturing. Showing her care for me, she would bring me clothes to try on that worked with my personality from her mom's place of business. We had fun with that. She had a contagious smile. Each 9/11 that comes I think of you.

Tu tio,
Yki Manuel Cano Garcia
[Ed. - I'd love to talk to you about how you've been. I'm your uncle and never got to share with you the things that young people like to share. The stories about you that your Uncle Carlos (my father) told me have caused me to build a mental image of you as though you were present all the time in my life. You happened along at the wrong moment, but physically, you're always in our hearts. You'll always be indispensable. —Your uncle Yki.]

Marlyn,
I celebrate your life with the joy of knowing that you knew Jesus. And when my time comes, I'll see you in eternity. Words seem to be not enough, so I live day by day numb to your passing—because if I don't, I can't live. I pray that you can feel me. I know a part of me was destroyed that day. And every year September comes, and I run from the fact that you're not here. I'm in a daze when I think of you. It wasn't supposed to be like this. You're gone, and all of us who loved you are left mentally and spiritualy scarred. GOD had his appointed time for you, mama. I still hear your voice like it was yesterday. With a sincere Love always.

Manita,
You are a heavenly angel, a beautiful sister, woman, and soul. I miss you more than words could describe. You must have completed your task on earth, and that is why you were taken back. I love you. Till we see each other again.

Today marks the anniversary of the biggest tragedy the USA has seen in my life. I was in North Carolina and wanted to do anything I could to help! Today, still searching for a way to help, I donated blood. While there, they gave me a sticker that said, "THIS PINT DONATED IN MEMORY OF MARLYN C. GARCIA." I am 28 years old and live in California. This is touching me in a way that I never thought I would be touched! I am so sorry for the families that lost loved ones on 9/11. May god bless you all.
Love,
Kathy

I met Marlyn at El Puente Academy and I was delighted that she would be joining Teatro El Puente. She was so charismatic and ready to shine as an Actor/Educator. It really aches my heart to know that Marlyn is not with us anymore. Then I realize that her legacy continues... It continues through me when I speak about her. It continues through this website and it continues through all of the love that her family sends to her every day. So that is how I will remember her. As a force that will help us to never forget the horrible events of 9/11. May her memory and all others who perished that day live on Forever. Thank you Marlyn for being a part of my life no matter how brief.

After September 11, 2001, the women in my church, Calvary of Albuquerque, wanted to find a way to remember those who were lost that day. A beautiful, slim sterling silver cuff bracelet was designed. I purchased one, and received one with your name. I wear it in memory of you. May the Lord bless you and your family always.

Marlyn was a 1998 graduate of El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice. She was a student in my AP Spanish class, but she became more than that. She was so thoughtful - she came to my wedding and one of the first people I saw on that day, smiling that huge smile and snapping pictures :-). I remember being so happy to see her. Marlyn and I were more than student and teacher, we were friends. She sent me cards every Christmas, no matter how far away we were. She was honest, sometimes brutally honest, but she was loving and sweet as well. I loved her very much and five years after this tragedy, I still miss her and think about her often.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
