I found this memorial tribute searching for family members. I do believe you were a distant cousin. My paternal grandmother was a Michelstein. "Uncle David" and "Tante Mollie" were an important part of my life. On this 10th year of your passing, you are still in the hearts of many in this world.  May your memory be for a blessing. marty: you were taken from us too soon. we miss you so very much...your smile (and your dimples!), the fun times we had growing up in the bronx and lake shenorock, seeing you change from the quiet, blonde-headed kid into the very successful, level headed corporate executive that you became...we think of you often. all our love, your brother jay and sister-in-law sunnie michelstein

I don't know Mr. Michelstein, but today I ran in honor of his name with his name on my shirt. It was a memorial run at Lackland AFB. I was saddened by the thought of him being taken out of this world and I just wanted to say that even tho I don't know him.... he is on my mind... and will never be forgotten.

I met you only a couple of times, but I remember you as a very fun and happy person. I dated your nephew, Ron, for most of my high school years. Your brother Jay and sister-in-law "Sonny" (Ron's parents) were very good to me. I had heard what happened and also saw your name on the World Trade Center wall. I just wanted to wish you peace at this time.

With respect and love,
LF

Martin was my first cousin. I am the only child of Adele Michelstein Fixler. When we were kids, we were quite close, as were my mother and Martin's father. I remember that your father married a second time and that you and your brother Jay were offspring of that marriage.  When we were young (younger than 12), we'd go fishing. Your family had a cottage in Mayopac, NY. We'd also attend baseball games, preferably the Yankees, with my father, Henry, and your father and your brother. Over the years, we lost track of each other. I'm certain that, if you were still alive, we'd have found a way to reconnect.  You had lots of energy and were never at a loss for words. One thing I do remember about you as a kid was your blond curly hair and your early attraction to the ladies.  May you rest in peace, and may your family find peace and solace in their memories.

Your cousin,
Gene (genef@arielassociates.com or rewnyc@gmail.com (212) 923-1155)

I never knew martin, I only wore his name on a bracelet that I received from my school on the one year anniversary of Sept 11th.  I often think of what kind of man he was and if he had a family.  I have tried to contact his family members to give him them the bracelet I wore, but I have not been able to find an address.  If any members of his family see this please e-mail me at Catchthis015@aol.com. Thanks!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
