Dear Melissa,
I am 33 years old; an age you will never be. Tears fill my eyes now as I listen to your call. I wish with all my heart that it could have been different for you. I never knew you, but you seem like you were an extremely sweet soul who had the courage and hope to seek solutions in a time of terror. I was in Lima, Peru when the attacks happened. I wanted so badly to be back in the states, back home to help. On September 12 I searched the stores of Lima looking for American flags. I found one small American flag patch, took a bit of thread and hung it outside of our hotel room door. Now, I know, that was for you. I wish I could have hugged you, given you a kind word, just done anything. I hope that maybe somehow you are happy now and in some small way have the life you deserve.
Take care forever,
Andrea

I find myself not being able to stop listening to this beautiful womans call for help. Her voice touched me,and has not left my heart. Her pleads, and cries will always remain in my heart reminding me how short life is,and how we should tressure every moment we have with our love ones.Melissa seemed to have been an honestly beautiful woman from the inside out.Listening to the call I wish there was some way I could save you,and the thousands of innocent lifes that were lost.It is truly sad that such an horrible act took thousands of innocent lifes including you Melissa.Your an angel in peace with the lord now may you continue to RIP for you and the thousands shall never ever be forgotten but always be remembered.

I did not know Melissa Doi but I just listened to her last phone call on the internet. She seemed like a beautiful person and considering the horrible situation she was in I was amazed at her composure when talking to the dispatch. My heart was sad listening to her terrified voice and knowing what she was going through during that call. RIP Melissa and may God comfort you in heaven. You will never be forgotten Melissa. The world has a lot of love for you. RIP dear angel.

Dear Melissa,
It breaks my heart listening to emergency calling. Words cannot express how I felt although I did not know you but listening to your voice just wrenches my heart. I know you are in a better place.

On this 10th memorial of this horrific tragedy I heard your 9/11 call for the first time and have been moved beyond words. I am so grateful for the Lady Dispatcher(Barnes) who stayed with you and comforted you as you slipped away to a better place. In the end all that counts is our connection to each other.
Your "light" has touched many lives, and you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

You are not forgotten. Listened to your phone call for the first time today, I hope you and the rest of the 911 victims rest in peace for eternity. I also hope your family has found peace through all this. What a brave and strong woman.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
