Even though I never met you, Melissa, I will never be able to forget 9/11 because of you.... I wish things could've ended differently, and I hope you are now at peace. I am sure you were a wonderful person, and no one deserved the 9/11 attacks!  R.I.P., Melissa.

I was feeling sad today, for no particular reason ... then, out of nowhere, I thought about 9/11 ... and I thought about what I had read about a woman named Melissa Doi. Suddenly, I realized that today is a gift. And what would Melissa do, if she were here on this sunny day? So today I will venture out ... look at the sky ... feel the breeze ... and smile at someone ... all because of Melissa.

I just listened to this incredible lady, who knew that her life would soon be over. What can you say? Why do we human beings have to go through these things? Just picture her up there, thinking, "This is it. i'm gone. I'm burning up." Life is precious for us. At the age of 32, it is sad, Melissa. You're a hero of mine, a hero I wish I could've met. R.I.P.

It's so upsetting to hear Melissa in such obvious distress, moments before her death. It's so tragic for all the innocent victims caught up in this tragedy. I will remember you, Melissa, in the knowledge that you have reached your eternal reward. R.I.P.

It has taken me years to post this message, but it is something that I have always wanted to do.

I worked for a Canadian Financial Institution that was in partnership with IQ Financial, and I was in those very same offices less than two weeks prior to 9/11, so I did get to know you briefly, and all I can say is I am deeply sorry for your family's loss and for everyone else that lost a loved one on that dark day.

I was at Ground Zero a few weeks ago and read your name on the list of "Heroes of September 11th," and I have to confirm that that is exactly what you are.

Rest in peace.

Rest in peace; it broke my heart to hear your voice on the phone. I hope you are somewhere better ... and safe now.

Dear Melissa,

Your call broke my heart when you said, "I am going to die, aren't I?" You were so brave, and I will never forget you. To the family, my sincerest condolences.

Dearest Melissa,

I didn't know you, but I have listened to your desperate call for help on 9/11. I am so sorry you and so many others suffered so much that horrible day. You will not be forgotten.

Dear Melissa,
I never knew you, but since the day I heard your sweet voice crying while on the phone at 9/11, my heart has been broken. Your call for help literally made me cry. You might have been a very sweet and a very wonderful woman. In this picture you're smiling; who could imagine you crying? My prayers go out to your family. It's difficult to say that it has been 7 years since you left this world! But you will never be forgotten; neither you nor any of the victims of wars and terrorism in the world. R.I.P.

I am so sorry. I posted your call on my website along with Mr. Cosgrove's because I don't ever want the United States to forget. Your voice will forever be ingrained in my head. Like someone else said, those of us who were not there will never know the terror you all felt.... I just pray for your families that they have peace! Your friends here will never forget you!  :-)

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
