Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.

Melissa, I am not a horrible terrorist follower or extremist. I've heard your audio call while you were on the 83rd floor, it really breaks my heart when I hear it. I can't imagine how you must have felt and I hope where you are now is a much better place. R.I.P

I listened to you today. I wanted to stop but the least I could do was listen all the way through. You were such a brave woman. Wish I could have helped.

Hoping today brings your family some closure.

[Ed. - Now you're one more angel with God, Melissa. I've heard your call lots of times, and I can't even imagine the horror of what happened to you. Notwithstanding, I know that you were a very brave woman, and in spite of your situation, you tried to save other people, too.]

I heard your voice on an audio tape today, and it broke my heart. I wish I could somehow travel back and try to save you.
May you rest in peace now, my friend, we're still thinking of you.

Melissa,

I heard your call today. Your voice, even in the time of horror, sounded like an angel. I wish I could have saved you and all who perished that day. Even though I did not know you in this life, you will always be in my thoughts, as will your family. May you rest in peace.

Dear Melissa,

I never knew you, and I was only eight years old when you passed away. Words cannot express the sadness that I feel for what happened to you. Why did this have to happen to you? I can't understand the lack of sense behind this! Whatever this is ...

My heart and soul feel chewed up and swallowed by the jaws of some inconceivable hopelessness when imagining those final, unbearable moments you must have gone through. One can only hope there is a heaven, a paradise, or an afterlife of some sort where you may live out your life happily as if this horrible event never occurred. I can only hope you have found some peace wherever your essence may be.

My heart and my love goes out to you and your family, Melissa.

Dear Melissa,

Its nice to know you have received 17,000 flowers, all well-deserved. Your calls that sad day, I am sure, captured many hearts for them to visit your memorial to make that high number possible. I just wish that you could see that.

Louder than words! My love to your family, Melissa.

Dear Melissa,

I did not know you personally, but I hear your voice on the tape, and my heart goes out to you. You, along with your co-workers, were so brave, and I can't imagine what it was like up there for you all. You will never be forgotten, and neither will the others who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The World Trade Center people who lost their lives on 9-11 continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I did not know Melissa C. Doi, but I've listened to her recorded last phone message to the 9-1-1 operator that horrible morning, and my heart breaks. I cannot imagine what she went thru during those unthinkable last minutes. She was such a beautiful young lady, and her life was prematurely cut short by inhuman terrorists. My prayers go out to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

For Melissa,

I don't think there will ever be a whole understanding of what this poor girl went through and that any other known tragedy pales in comparison to Melissa's. Nor to understand the experiences of this poor Melissa Doi's situation — I DEEPLY BELIEVE that no one ever will understand.

I never knew you except from the news, Melissa, but hearing your calls and your desperation, I only wished I was there to get you out to safety. :( :(  One Love

Melissa,

I remember when we both lived in 1199, and your mom and my mom were really close friends. I was like 6 and you were 8. My mom always kept your school picture in her purse — the one where you had the missing tooth. Even then I could recognize you had a beautiful energy about you. You were just so fun to be around, and Evelyn was like the super cool mom. We got older and went our separate ways, but I honestly never forgot you or Evelyn, and I hoped that our paths would cross again. I thank GOD for you, Melissa. You have been such a beautiful, positive, loving energy since day one, and I'm glad this site was created to honor your life. We honor you! And from those who knew you well to those who never met you ... we all love you always.

R.I.P., Melissa. It was a very scary phone call that I found on Youtube. It's amazing that you managed to stay clam and polite with the operator. I could tell you where a kind and loving girl. R.I.P.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
