Listening to that audio of her was depressing. Poor thing.

Like many other people, I heard your voice on Youtube. That was terrible.

You are still on my mobile: THIS side LIBERTY. xxx

I feel really very sad and sorry for all the people who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. I heard a couple of last conversations and felt really helpless. My deepest condolences to their families: Mr. Kevin Cosgrove, Betty Ong, Melissa Doi, etc. You live in our hearts forever.

You are loved and kept in the hearts of many. I'm so sorry about what you had to go through. Blessings to your family, friends, and loved ones, and to those who were next to you in those last moments, rest in peace.

Melissa,

I, like many, am one of the ones who heard your call on Youtube. Much has happened in the nine years since your passing on that day. Know, however, that you and the others who passed on so tragically have not been, and will never be, forgotten. I am sure that you were a wonderful person, with an amazing spirit. May God bless your families.

Such bravery and calmness in the face of devastation.... I, too, heard your voice on Youtube and was astounded.... May you rest in peace.... Your voice did not go unheard....

I didn't know Melissa, but I hope she and all the other victims feel the love every time someone sheds a tear for their loss. This was a loss for their families, but it was also a loss to our country and to all the people who never had the opportunity to meet this brave woman nor all the others who sacrificed all.

Nine years have passed, and you and all the others who perished that day are not forgotten. We will continue to keep you in our hearts. As long as you are remembered, those who were responsible did not win. I pray for your family who still feel your loss.

Dear Melissa,

Your story and suffering tugs at my heart, and your smile and voice is etched into my mind forever. R.I.P.

Dear Melissa,

Like countless people in previous comments before me, I did not know you personally. But your words and your phone call made me realize that you sound like an amazing person I would've hung out with. If I was there with you, I would've probably held your hand and kept re-assuring you that help would arrive. I would've tried to call you down and told you FDNY is coming. I would've said "There is no way FDNY or responders would leave us here. You wait, they will come."

I would've cried with you. I know I would've. I would've asked you about what you did the night before to try to keep you from freaking out. I hope you are resting in peace. It is possible to have a connection with someone you've never met.

A friend in spirit,
Vanessa

I'm so very sorry. I can't even say how much my heart hurts right now, and what you, the victims, must feel is unimaginable.

Melissa,

The 9th anniversary of the attack has just gone by. I am from the United Kingdom. I am just 17 years old, and when I heard your voice on youtube, my heart went out to you. I kept replaying your call because you were so polite and so calm. I don't think any of the callers could have been as calm as you were.

I didn't know you at all, but I am going to tell you how many nice comments you have received on Youtube.
I send my condolences to your family.

From your audio conversation, I would like to say that I think you were a very nice lady, who was polite at the hardest time of all. Life wasn't so fair to you in the end but I hope that you are in a better place now.

You will always be remembered, Melissa.
God bless.

I heard your call already, and you are just a brave woman.

Melissa,

I knew you when you were a baby. Your Mom and I grew up together in the Bronx. I heard the tape, and I realized you were my friend's daughter. My heart is very heavy for your mom and family. May your family find peace in these trying times.

Always,
Wanda

Melissa and ALL who are reading ...

I heard the 911 call, and I heard the whole 30 minutes....

She fell unconscious towards the end of the tape. You could hear her snoring. She passed away peacefully and that's great....

The ninth-year anniversary is quickly coming fast, and I feel as if people forgot all about 9/11, and it hurts me, from watching countless Youtube videos, seeing people hanging out of windows, jumping, and so on, it makes me horrified and sad when people forget all about this sad, sad day in America.

Melissa was a great American. She was strong, yet scared, like every one of us would be. It's great to hear that so many people heard the tapes and could connect with this young woman and feel her pain....

REMEMBER MELISSA. REMEMBER 9/11 FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS, EVERYONE WHO DIED.

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.
