Your phone call helped the world shed a light on how horrific it was up there. I will never forget you, Melissa, and neither will the millions of us who will keep you alive in our memories. You have inspired me and made me realize how great life is and how easily it can be taken away. You have taught me to seize every moment and to live life to the fullest, and for that I thank you with all my heart. Rest in peace. x

Dear Melissa,

Your story was brought to my attention by my friend Amy. What you had to go through was horrible, and hearing your voice was so sad. Your family is in our prayers, and I hope NOBODY ever forgets what took place. May it never happen again.

I don't know you, but I love you. Your voice has captured my heart. I wish there were something I or anyone else could've done to save you. Oh, honey, I'm so sorry you five were all alone up there. You were instrumental in helping keep the other people with you so calm. We miss you so very much. You will never be forgotten, Melissa!

I just heard Melissa's frantic 9-11 phone call a few days ago, and I couldn't help but listen to it over and over again. I can't possibly imagine the utter fear she was experiencing at that moment. At the last minute of the call when she said "Can ..." and then it d/c, I couldn't stop wondering what had happened to her.... May God shed his grace and mercy on her family.  I'll never forget you.

It is eight years now, and my heart still breaks. I will remember.

I'm a French Canadian from Montreal. When I heard the tapes of Miss Doi and Kevin Cosgrove, I realised that the situation was not just terrible. It was very terrible and frustrating. Nothing more terrible.

You made a lasting impression on me, and I will never forget your voice and how I felt when I heard you...

And we should not forget. Melissa, in all the fear, sadness, and grief, and for all the inspiration you have brought us, we thank you for reminding us of our humanity and for making us rediscover something about ourselves. You shall always be our angel on the 83d floor.

I never knew Melissa, but I saw her photo on the 9-1-1 call she made when she was trapped on the 83rd floor of the South Tower where she worked. I was crying because she didn't make it. I was ten when the attacks happened, and as I saw the South Tower fall, I screamed, "Oh, NO! Don't let them die! No! Not those innocent people!" I knew she died, and I felt so terrible, and I have her photo in my victims' book. R.I.P., MELISSA! :'(

This is very sad to hear. I am sure Melissa was a very nice person to know. I did not know her; though when listening to her, I wished I could have helped her. We must not forget this day in American history.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
