I did not know Melissa, nor do I know any of her family or friends. What I do know is how my heart broke for her father as he searched for Melissa after the 9/11 attacks. I feel for all of you and think about you on this day. I hope the 9/11 memorial brought some kind of comfort to you today, 9/11/11.

Vincent family,
18 years ago, I met Melissa at Oswego. She was one of the most beautiful members of our soroity - beautiful in heart, in spirit, in voice, and in person. I think of her every September 11th. I hope for you and your family moments of peace on this 10-year anniversary.

I would like to say as each years anniversary approaches I remember the Summer I got to work with Melissa at the Genesee Country Museum. I made a great friend and had great experiences. She was a lovely soul that made me laugh and enjoy work. I got the chance to become friends before we parted ways. I am very sorry for the loss of your family and the loss the whole world had. The world needed more people like Melissa. Hopefully her angel is not only protecting your family but all of us! Sadly missed and always remembered.

Thinking of Mr Vincent today. I still remember watching him on the news all these years later. His story touched me like no other one and I will never forget his interview. I say a little prayer every time I walk by the memorial for Melissa outside 1000 Hudson Street in Hoboken where I live. My thoughts and prayers are with you today.

I created a memorial scholarship several years ago in Hoboken for graduating seniors of Hoboken High School, who are interested in pursuing further education in international business. Each year, we honor one of those from Hoboken who passed away on 9/11. I would like to honor Melissa this year or next, if possible. I remember her story well and her father on the news shortly after 9/11. Please let me know how I can contact someone in the family who might be able to provide permission to speak on Melissa's behalf at the Senior Awards Ceremony in Hoboken. We provide $1,000 each year to the graduating senior who is selected to receive this recognition. Thanks so much in advance. I am so sorry for your loss, so I would like to honor and remember Melissa in this way. Thank you.

Dear Vincent family,

I'm sorry for your loss of Melissa. I think of her every day, even all these years later, and I never even knew her, but for some reason, her face connected with me. Now your family and Melissa will forever be in my prayers. May god bless you.

There was a mass said for Melissa at St. Peter's today and a prayer service at Holy Family Yesterday. The kids and I lit a candle and I am thinking of her as always today.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
