This weekend when we remembered the tragedy of 9/11 ten years ago, Grand Rapids, MI had a memorial at Cannonsburg ski area where regular sized flags were put on the slopes for all who had died. We were invited to walk through them and read the attached bio. If we so desired, we were able to purchase a flag in memory of an individual. I chose Michael for several reasons. I am a widow who also lost my husband too soon. He was an eduator with a PhD here at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. I am a musician and have a harpsichord in my home. When I read that Michael shared the same interests, I knew he was the one I wanted to memorialize. Everytime I fly the American flag with his bio attached, he will be remembered.

Dear Michael,
I just finished hearing your name read at the memorial service being held today for the 10th anniversary of the distruction that cost you and your family so much. I want you to know that you are loved and missed. God bless all of those who are still in the struggle and pain of your loss. You are not forgotten. Huggles and Love~Raggedy

I had the pleasure of working closely with Michael. I quietly never forget him or what his death represents. Michael was brilliant, funny, caring, and real. his love for his family, technology, music was inspirational. Ten years later the world is a better place because you were in it.

I was privileged to work at Pearson Technology when Michael Packer was CTO. The respect I and the rest of my colleagues held for him was deserved. He was a great leader, who had so much enthusiasm for making the world a better place to live and work in.

During the span of one's work life, you meet some exceptional people. Michael Packer was definitely one of them. He exemplified the Pearson creed: Brave, imaginative, and decent. God bless him and his family.

I only knew Michael Packer through the stories of his friend, my father. I remember how sad my dad was to hear that Michael had been killed. He truly touched people in a magical way with his good cheer, brilliance, wit, and dedication to his family. He will always be missed and never forgotten.

Michael Packer was an exceptional person: wise, witty, insightful, generous with his time and talents, loving and such a bright intelligence. In the few conversations that I was privileged to have with him, Michael always mentioned with pride and love his children and wife. I can not even begin to comprehend their pain. Michael lives on through them and also through everyone whose life he touched. We were so blessed to have known him and to have his light shine among us, if only for such a short time.

I dedicated a post to Michael for the 2996 project. I worked hard to make sure the post would honor his family and friends. I wanted to let the world know we lost a very good man that day. Thank you!

Michael B. Packer was my master's thesis advisor. I did not get to know him well, but he did invite me and some other grad students to his home. I remember his obvious devotion to his wife. He was a keynote speaker at Windows on the World that day. May he rest in sweet peace.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
