Amanda Lynch with her uncle Michael a few months before 911. This is one of the last pictures taken of him.

I met Michael when I moved to Flushing, NY in 1979. I remember having such a crush on him, because he was the cutest boy on the block. He went to St. Michael's, and I went to St. Mary's, but we saw each other when we played outside. My family and I moved to Ohio, and one day I happened to think of all my friends in NY, so I was going to look them up in Facebook and catch up. I remember Adam Fishbein, Anthony and Afrodite Kassaras, and many others. When I found out he was one of the firemen that died that 9/11 day, my heart sank. I could not believe it and I cried. My prayers go out to his family; his mom, dad, brother, sisters and lovely wife and kids. That day our country loss a beautiful and selfless man. God Bless Michael and all who have lost their lives. We will NEVER forget them.

My husband and I are from the Midwest. We met Michael only through a photo and the generosity of his Aunt and Uncle, Pat and Agnes, as they shared their love, their grief, and the story of the heroic death of their nephew, Michael.
Our message here is an incredible feeling of thankfulness, as we load our van and send our son, Paul, off to study and train be a full-time firefighter. Paul was only 10 years old when 9-11 struck, but he said himself that it was that horrific September event, and Michael's story, that fueled "the fire" of his passion to help others as a firefighter.
I know that with every firefighter lost that day, there was a patron saint canonized in heaven to guide and protect all the future firefighters, like my son, who will take their place, in gear, ready to protect the health and sanctity of human life.
Thank you, Michael.

Hi Michael,
Thinking about you a lot lately. The boys came over for the Super Bowl and Jack won $100! They are such kind, sweet children—growing up too fast. Denise is doing a great job! It's such a warm feeling to look at them and see you. Denise and I are doing a 40-mile bike-a-thon around Manhattan to sponsor the children of 9/11 and for you! Hope you are able to watch us. Miss you! Love you!
Love,
Katie

9-11 was a horrible day and always will be. I am he youngest of the other huge family that lived in one of the 4 buildings on Parsons and Sanford for many years. The Devlin Family. Played with Maureen for years. We were friends for years The Lynch family they were all great. It was really sad to see them lose both a son and daughter in a short period of time. I still think about them all the time. My thoughts and prayers are with them all the time.

Although I think about you every day, the days leading to 9/11 are much more difficult. I love you and miss your smile. See you again one day, my brother.

Michael, I would like to thank you for what you did! I am a junior high student, and I have chosen you for a biography assignment in my English class. It is for a "compassionate person" essay.

I remember "little" Michael (the baby) and the Lynch family visiting my family often in Flushing. The most beautiful people (inside and out) that you would ever have the fortune to meet. I am sorry to that family to have lost such a precious person at such a young age for such a senseless reason. May God bless the Lynch Family and the Families of all our other fallen heroes!

Michael will never be forgotten. Although I was not fortunate enough to have known him, my family and I got to know Colleen and her family and understand the love and bond of this family that can not be broken by tragedy. May God be with you and bless you all, and know that through the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, he made it possible for us to meet again in heaven. Thank you, Michael, and all of the fallen FDNY.

I went to St. Michael's School with Michael Lynch and his older sister Rory (Rose Mary) was in many of my classes. I had a crush on Rory as so did many of us who knew her and played with her by Bowne St. & Sandford Ave. where she lived. We would hang out in front of her building on the side of the building or even play in the laundromat (Hey, don't take my towel off, I've got nothing on underneath!). Jimmy Lavelle, Miguel Prieto, Tony Aragon and myself would spend many a days laughing with Susan Fatouples (I know I spelled it wrong), Kathy Harrington (another one I had a crush on), Donna Valentine (my first crush) and of course Rory.
I really got to know Michael Lynch better during my last year (6th grade) at St. Michael's. There was a big age difference but I did "hang out" with him and Susan's younger brothers a few times. He was very kind just like all of his siblings. I had at least one of my siblings (I am youngest of 5) have one of the Lynches in their class also. My sister Constanza (Connie) who also died pretty young (38) I believe had classes with Bernadette, their other siblings had classes with either Maritza, William (red hair) or Henry Archbold. I include Michael in my prayers and I regard him as one of my Angels.
I remain,
Richard Archbold

My little brother, I still can't believe you are not here. Your beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous smile. I see you in your boys and it is a wonderful warming sight. Give our sister Maureen a kiss and a hug. I will see you again one day!!

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
