Remembering Mike way back at the World Gym in Red Bank where we all used to work out. I think Mike was working out
somewhere else by 2001. One of his friends who used to
take the ferry into the city with him every day was still a
member in Red Bank and gave me the news. Utter disbelief and extreme sadness can only descibe how I felt.
God Bless you Mike and God Bless your family. Claude Trecate

I was moved today when I attended the Memorial for the fallen victims at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas! They had displayed 2,936 flags in memoriam of those who perished as well as a listing of all names. My maiden name was McCabe and we were from Chicago...I doubt there was any relation but please know that our family is thinking of all of you!

Mike was my manager at Pru. I was on my honeymoon when I heard the news of 9/11, and I was completely devastated. I didn't hear the news about Mike until I came back. I came to find Mike, and several of my Pru colleagues were gone. It took me until five years later to visit the site, and it's been nine years since the event. I'm not sure even if I have come to terms with this yet, but one thing for sure is that Mike was a genuine, caring person. He was a part of my daily life for years at Pru. He is truly missed.

Regards,
Mary

I grew up with Michael starting at the beach and then Kindergarten onward. Michael was always a warm loving concerned gentleman. He grew up to raise a family that emulated the same standards that his parents taught him.

Good Catholic, lots of Kids and never forgot his humor!

Michael and his family did not deserve this......

Lynn,

I wanted you to know that I think of you from time to time and hope you and your kids are doing okay. I was one of the young kids in the room when we worked together at hrzg, but I will always remember you and Taj and Charlie. When the pressures of work were tough, you kept a smile on your face and made it through the day. You set a very good example for us assistants just starting out in the business. I'm glad that you found such happiness with Mike. I trust your optimistic attitude helps you through those tough days for you and your kids. Take care.

Every time I think about 9/11, my thoughts stray to Cassidy and especially her father. Growing up so close to NY gave me a perspective on 9/11 that I realized people from other parts of the country don't share. I'm sorry for your loss, and I know Michael McCabe is watching you from above. <3

Michael J. McCabe, I'm writing this for you becuase i have a very close friend who loves you very much and is always thinking about you. It makes me sad to see her cry when pictures or movies come on about 9-11, she makes me feel like I am going to cry to. I will pray for you and your family because I no how much you really mean to kim. I never met you but from what I hear your a very nice and kind-hearted person. From now on whenever I hear someting about the trade center i will think of you and your family along with other families who suffered from the disturbing attack. I'm sure if i met you i would feel as sad as your family is. We ( your family, friends, and I) miss you very much. I'm most positive that everyone thinks about you and wishes you were still here to brighten up our days. I'm very sad and heart broken to know how many people feel about this situation and I, myself, will never forget this.

McCabes: I'm sorry about your loss and i hope that you can all find a happy feeling and remember all of the great times you had had with "Uncle Mike."

R.I.P Michael J. McCabe <3

I am a true friend to Kim. She has lost her uncle in the WTC. I cry and pray for her and him whenever I hear something about 9-11. I also can't even imagine what it would feel like and I never thought this would happen. Yet it has. And there is nothing we can do. I cry thinking about it. When we hear things in Social Studies about 9-11...she smiles but I know she is internally crying. I'm so sorry Kimberly. You've helped me through times and now its time for me to help you. I visited Ground Zero, brought you back a "hand" rom the nearby church and wrote something in the church to say i'm sorry. I know you loved him very much.

Every night I pray...

The McCabes, The Lovejoys', And the rest of close family and friends. Forever on will I pray and cry.

I Love You Mike McCabe

Mike McCabe was my uncle and he left behind plenty of people who love and miss him. He had 3 kids who are my cousins and a loving wife Lynn. They lived in New Jersey and was really special to me. I remember sitting on his lap looking at his cool braces! haha.My uncle Mike was a really great person and he was described always a kind person. I feel like I should have treasured him more or something. We now have what is called a "Mike" or golf tournament in his honor and also his friend Mike's honor. They died together. I miss him so much and i wish he was still here with us <3 I love you and miss you R.IP MJM

I pray for: Regan McCabe, Lynn McCabe Cassidy McCabe Liam McCabe and the rest of the McCabe/ Hemberger family

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
