I just met Mr. Horrocks' son, Mick, this weekend during a hockey tournament; he is on the same team as my son for the coming season. While never having met Mr. Horrocks, I am sure he would be proud of his son who appears to be a very nice young man, which is a tribute not only to Mr. Horrocks but to Mick's mom and stepdad as well.

How to even start? I guess firstly I want to apologize to Mike's wonderful parents for leaving the way I did that day on L.B.I. in August '03. I knew there were things I had to say, and as painful as that was to all of us, I also knew that there weren't, nor will there ever be, enough wonderful things that I could say about Mike. I remember his love for music, his love for a good time, and his infectious laugh, which always made me laugh more, no matter how stupid the thing was that we were laughing at. Stickball on the beach, running bases, body surfing and wiping out, even in jellyfish infested water while it was raining! Nothin' could stop us. 1974, me, Mike, Regina and Pat and Billy sitting on our back steps, Mike teasing Billy saying "Silly willy Billy, silly willy Billy"! Mike could even make a good time out of being chased by his older brother! I always appreciated every single moment that I hung out with Mike and the pride that I had to be his friend. In 5th grade in W. Chester on the Optimist football team we were 8-0. Must have been the way we brought in the plays. We were the play messengers. I don't know that I've ever met a more golden personality than Mike's nor someone with such a love of life and laughter, and that is not in retrospect. I knew it then and there, as I'm sure so, so many who miss him also knew. I miss him greatly and often. To Krista and Mic, carry the light and the love of your father in your hearts always, as I'm sure you already do, and I'm sure by now you know that your father is one of the greatest that ever walked on God's earth. God bless you all, God bless you, Mike.

Your friend,
Jack

I didn't know Mr. Horrocks, but I know he was a very great man. I know his son Mick, and he's amazing at pretty much everything, and he must have got that from his father, so Mr. Horrocks must have been a great hero to Mick.

Mike was a close friend in high school, after sitting next to Mike at our 20th high school reunion, just a month before the attack, I turned to my husband and said, I wish Mike and Miriam lived close by, he is such a great guy and so much fun, never knowing until he was gone all the tremendous accomplishments he had manifested during his life, his greatest being that he made everyone around him feel special and that life was good, I think about you often Mike, you are missed every day

I sit in my room and cry sometimes, and I think to myself, "Why am I crying?" I know people that have gone through a lot more than I have. Just like the Horrocks family. Michael was an inspiration and was an amazing man. Though I did not spend much time with him, I have great respect for him. He is a true hero

I did not know Mr. Horrocks very well but I did know his son Michel (Mick). I only have spoken to Mr. Horrocks a few times but that was enough to know that he cared for his family and was very kind to everyone that he met. He was and still is a insperation!

I flew with Michael a number of times at United. Mike was just a very nice, unassuming guy. Loved his children and wife very much and spoke of them often. They miss him terribly but are truly beautiful individuals and he would be very proud of them all.

I only met you briefly on that faithful day that you and my now ex (John) went for your interviews with United. You got the job, John did not. For the brief time that I knew you, you made an ever lasting Impression. The world is a much sadder place without you in it. To your family, I am sorry for this great lose. Know that you and you family are always in prayers. Sincerely, Hilda Gadjo

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
