A lovely tribute by your daughter at the 9/11 memorial service in NYC.  May the Lord bless your soul and your family on earth and may your children live to make you proud.

I think about Monty often. We worked together years ago at Dean Witter in Chicago. He had a great sense of humor and was very kind. Loved talking about his family in Nebraska. He loved pulling practical jokes. During a visit to his apartment, he was very proud to show me an award winning photograph of his boyhood home in Nebraska. An all around good guy, and I miss him.

My brother, Tom, recently mentioned to my sister and me that Monte had died in the World Trade Center and asked if he was around one of our ages. I said he was the same age as I am and a good friend of mine when I went to town school in Central City.

I went to a country school for elementary, except for first grade. Then when the school (District 8) burned down, I went back to town for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades (then I went to Nebraska Christian). I just remembered to look at this site. I don't know if anyone from the family ever looks at it anymore, but I just remember Monte as a very nice guy. We had fun in school in our little town. I never imagined that anyone I knew was working in the Trade Center that day!

I will always think of Monte and his family now whenever 9/11 is mentioned and say a prayer for you all in remembering your loss. May God sustain you.

Love,
Rachel

Just happened to come by this page looking for something else. Hord is such an usual name, and it caught my attention. I did not know this person, but it made me remember all the lost lives on 9-11. I'm very sorry for your loss and the heartache of that day. I will never forget that day! Ever!

I have a lot of good memories with you and your family in Central City. So sorry you left this world so early. You live on in the hearts of many.

On this sixth anniversary of the Twin Towers devastation, I'm thinking of you, Monte, remembering our families growing up together in our small town, your handsome face and contagious laugh... My prayers are with your beautiful wife and children. Know you are in my heart, my friend.

my deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Montgomery McCullough Hord.. my name is michele hord fryman and I was searching the net to see if I had any relatives or distant relatives who might have died on that day (9-11-01). I've also been doing a family tree/geneology of my whole family... may God bless you all in all you say and do, and always keep Him first in your lives...

In Christ,

Dear Monte,

I only got to know you a couple of weeks when I had the great oppurtunity to stay with your family in 2001. I wish I could have spent more time with you. When I think of you, I always have a little smile on my face - because it is your laugh, the way you make jokes and your cheerfulness I remember. I still have one of your 2 Dollar notes on my desk. Monte, I will never ever forget you and the way you made me smile.

Dear dad,

I have been thinking about you a lot recently, and I don't know why. I think it's because it's not fair that you had to leave this world, and I am only just now realizing what happened. You were a great dad, and I know that would have continued if you were still here today. I hope to see you in heaven some day. Miss you like crazy dad,

Molly Dolly

Monty, I knew you only through Lisa but it doesn't seem to matter.

A small town to a big place, but no one has forgotten Monte who we all knew, and his family that most of us have not had the honor of knowing, except in our thoughts and prayers.

we came from a small town of Central City NE. Where everyone knew everybody. 2 years later and you still haven't been forgotten.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
