Norberto Hernandez was one of the bravest souls in the World Trade Center. May his soul rest in peace and harmony.

Nine years later we still remember and will never forget. Your strength and courage gives us a sense of an option even at the worst times. Let your soul rest in peace. My most sincere condolences to your family and the families of all the victims from 9/11.

Carpe Diem....

The Falling Man—that was a photo (and I film I had seen on youtube). I could not get out of my mind.

Along with the horror of that day, there seemed to be some sort of glory, stillness, peace—when I looked at the photo, I saw a man who had made a decision and who didn't seem frightened or terrified but full of trust in god and his eternal life afterward. That made me shiver and smile at the same moment: What a brave man you were, Norberto! So these words to you and your family:

I honestly feel connected with you and must say that I have seen an angel: It was you, Norberto! God bless you, and love to you and your family from the bottom of my heart.

I felt it was necessary that I pay my respects to a man I didn't know only to know his story! It's hard to lose anyone in the world, but know that their life after is more beautiful than we all imagined ... and so I send my respects to Norberto and his family!

Rest in peace. I have a lot of sympathy for those that suffered from 9/11. It has created an unusual pain in my heart.

There is a peace in that photo. All the force and destruction of the day is absent. It shows a man who has accepted god and fate, and I am sure it shows the strength of the man himself. May his peace and his strength be with you always.

I am sorry about your loss. I never knew your father, nor do I know you or your family. I am truly sorry for all the horrible things that happened to your family by losing your father. I pray to God that you're full of strength and understanding to make your life a little easier. As for your father, I know he is in a better place with God. Take care, and may God bless you always.

Sadness, hopelessness, and a feeling of helplessness filled me on that day, and I'm sure that was how you felt, too.

God bless Norberto and his family.

Dear Norberto:

First of all, I can't help but be reminded of Hagrit's dragon Norbert, from Harry Potter. A random thought, yes, I know, but still I thought it. I also wonder ... did he commit suicide? Surely not. But who am I to know such things? I live a fairy tale life where these things can never happen to me. Who can imagine having to decide to jump out of a window or burn to death? I certainly can't. God surely can. I pray to God to have mercy on your soul Norberto, and in my limited plain old stupid mind, I think that he does. I am so sorry that I can't express it without typing stuff that barely scratches the surface and might offend. I'm sorry for that, too. It is too much for any one person to deal with, and I'm not even a relative. I can only express that I feel a lot towards you. I'm sorry this happened to you. I wish you were able to continue to be in the lives of your family. It hurts me, too, and I am so sorry. So sorry.

I feel terrible. The impact of what happened on 9/11 has struck me, and I will never see life in the same way again.

To the Hernandez family:

My thoughts and my prayers are with you. May God help ease your pain and help you to find peace. Have faith in God, for he now holds Norberto in his almighty hands. You will one day be reunited with him, and all your tears and all the pain will cease. May the Lord bless you all, and may Norberto rest in peace.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
