To the family of this man, I extend a most heartfelt condolence.

I didn't know Norberto, but I just watched a documentary on SKAI TV (Greece). I am really sad that so many people suffered that day and that some people had to jump from the WTC. Terrorism and wars must stop. They bring so much pain to us, to the innocent people. God bless Norberto and all the other victims and their beautiful families.

Norberto did not jump to end his life, but to save it. I have tried to put myself in his position and what I would be thinking would be, "I have no chance if I stay. I have some chance if I jump," keeping in mind that people have survived freefalls from 12,000 feet from airplanes. Norberto gave his last effort to come home to his family. Rest assured, Mr. Hernandez is indeed in heaven because he was a fighter! My love and prayers are with his family.

God bless you all. We still remember.

I do not find the falling man picture disturbing, but I am deeply saddened that, because of religion, people were forced to do such terrible things. Norberto Hernandez was a gentle giant.

I am English, and my heart broke for you and your family on that horrid day. Norberto, you were a true hero, and I know that you will remain an angel watching over your beautiful family till you meet them again. God bless you, god bless your family, and god bless your country. xx

On the day of 9/11 I was praying for all the people. Since I read the story about your husband, brother, and father, I am always praying for you guys.

This man didn't commit suicide; he jumped to prolong his life. If he'd stayed in the building, he would have suffocated sooner. May he R.I.P.

Norberto, one of the victims of that day, may rest now in peace. God bless the brave people that suffered that painful day: firemen, policemen, entire families, the innocent people on the airplanes, and the workers in the World Trade Center. America and the entire world suffered that day.

I watched the documentary about this man. He is so brave, and I could not put myself in his situation to jump. It is a very tragic event, and the people who caused this are very, very sick, twisted people. R.I.P.

This is a sad story, and I honor your loss. Suicide is an intent to kill yourself; what Norberto did was to live a little bit longer to love all of you.

Norberto Hernandez you’re a very brave man. And you touched my heart. May God bless the Hernandez family, and may Norberto Hernandez rest in peace.

He will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace, Norberto Hernandez.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.... He is not the falling man; he is the falling angel.... He is by far the bravest of them all.

Norberto is a symbol of freedom and life to anybody and everybody who has lost a member of their families, a loved one, or even an acquaintance on that day. Your father's soul soared like an angel, as he knew his time had come, and he died with the images of his angels in his mind. He is the greatest symbol of the 9/11 tragedy. Instead of pain and terror, he is at peace.

Beanachtai Dia ar an bhfearr seo a chlann agus ar na daoine ar fad a chail a shaol I lar an ufais.

That's Irish for "God bless all the heroes of that day."

I can't still forget that day, 9/11.... I was standing there watching those planes getting into the WTC.... I lost my fiancee, Isabella, in those attacks.... Norberto is a hero.

I am not from America; I'm from India. I cannot even begin to imagine the tragedy Norberto must have faced to finally make that choice to plunge down from the World Trade Center. He has certainly opened my eyes to the truth of the terrifying reality of 9/11. But I can say one thing for sure: Noberto is a hero, a brave, brave man. He has exhibited a dignity even in death and MADE A DIFFERENCE to this world! And he and the other victims will ALWAYS be remembered throughout the world. And may they rest in peace!

And to the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy, I cannot even begin to imagine the pain you must have felt and still would be feeling with the loss of your loved ones. My love, my thoughts, and my prayers are with you at this point of time! May god bless you all!

My thoughts are with all of you. May you rest in peace, and God bless those who died or were injured and the families of those who suffered.

I honestly can say that I didn't know of the "falling man." But today I just heard about it. I know what it feels like to have someone taken away from you so unjustly because my mother was murdered. Just know that his love is surrounding you every day. R.I.P.!

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.
