I worked with Paul many years ago and remember him as being a very man and always gentleman. Not knowing what he did at the WTC until recently, made me also realize he was a true hero. Rest in peace Paul.

Pablo is a modern-day hero. Average Americans who do incredible acts such as his are what makes this country great.

Mr. Ortiz is the epitome of bravery.

Mr. Ortiz was a great man who died an unfair death. I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the Ortiz family as we approach the anniversary of 9/11. Never forget great men like Mr. Ortiz. Never forget 9/11.

God bless the families of Mr. Ortiz and Mr. De Martini. What they did is something I can never imagine someone doing out of the kindness of their hearts. They are truly amazing people, and words cannot describe how selfless and heroic they were. I don't think I will ever see a better example of how people should be. God bless.

I just want to bow before a hero and pay my respects, for what he has done was truly a great thing, and I want to be as brave as he was.

I agree with the person below me, and everyone here. You were truly a hero. :(

It truly is a crime that so few know of you, yet Tiger Woods playing golf is headline news. You will not be forgotten for your sacrifice. Thank you.

Paul. My neighbor, my friend. My thoughts are with you always. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. All who had the pleasure of your friendship miss you very much. May God have mercy on your soul. Till we meet again, rest easy, my dear friend.

I watched a video series on youtube about 9/11. It's called "Inside the Twin Towers," and in those movies there was a great representation of how Pablo never gave up and saved others up until the very end.

Words cannot describe the heroism of Mr Ortiz, Mr De Martini, and the others that helped them in the rescue of over FIFTY civilians trapped because of Flight 11. The word "hero" is overused, but these gentlemen for me are the biggest and bravest of them all. R.I.P., and I hope to see you sometime and somewhere....

God bless you. You are a true inspiration: "When, after having heard the explosion ... they ran into the fire to help get people out." Ran into the fire. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight.

Pablo and Frank Di Martini are heroes....

To me, Pablo was a real superhero. If I were in a situation like that, all my heart and mind would say is to get out of the building. The brave part was that Pablo knew the building was in no-good shape, yet he risked his life to save others. He was a real superhero. We will miss you, Pablo. May you rest in peace.

I watched a video on 9/11 in school, and Pablo Ortiz was the one who stood out to me. An amazing man, he risked his life for the safety of others, and it truly blessed me to watch. I learned that he went searching on each floor to find people to help them get out. I think everyone, young and old, can learn from Mr. Ortiz in so many ways. God bless his family and friends. Rest in peace.

I was watching “Inside 911” on the History Channel. When they got to the part about Mr. Ortiz, for some inexplicable reason I felt a connection to him. As a man born in Puerto Rico, I felt a tremendous amount of ethnic pride that a person of such heroic proportions came from my island. Imagine my surprise when my wife, upon seeing Mr. Ortiz’ picture on the screen, said, “Oh, my god! That is my best friend Erica's uncle!” I was blown away! (Hence that connection!) I felt pride listening about Mr. Ortiz’ heroics and then felt crushed when the narrator said that Mr. Ortiz was last seen on the 78th floor, continuing to rescue people (with no regard to his own life). I felt as though I had lost my own family member. Mr. Ortiz, you are a hero, and you gave your life in the most selfless of ways. Your family has lost you physically, but what you did has assured that you left a legacy that will live on into eternity. America! Shout it out loud for all to hear!: “Mr. Pablo Ortiz, American hero!” May the lord bless you eternally.

My name is Paul. I am from Germany. On Sep 11th, 2001, I laid down a bouquet of flowers in front of the US embassy. I can say that on that day there was a mountain of flowers in front of the US embassy laid down only by the German people living in Munich to express to you our compassion.

Pablo was a hero at that day. He took action when everybody was still petrified. The flowers people laid down in front of the embassy were for ALL the victims of 911, but especially for the people who became heroes that day.

Thank you for the sacrifice your family made that day, showing us humanity and courage. Whatever happened that day, one thing is for sure: Pablo did the right thing and taught us all what humanity and love is.

Thank you.

I will never forget Pablo. He was a wonderful man. He always made me laugh, and, well, he loved to hit me on the back of my head. From going to see the Mets play in the rain to just sitting in the kitchen, I will never forget his words of wisdom and his caring heart. God bless him, and he is always missed. I was proud to have him as my uncle. R.I.P., Pablo.
