Hi, I didn't know Pablo or Frank but I was watching a film about the 9/11 attacks and they were mentioned a lot and I thought they were amazing people they were true heroes they risked their lives for the safety of others and it is awful that they didn't make it but their families should be very proud at the amount of people they saved! R.I.P TO ALL THE BRAVE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES THAT DAY! I was only six when it happened but I knew that what had happened was just a true horror.

I'm From Spain, Benidorm

Today I've seen a documentary on French television about Pablo and what he did to help people during the attack of the WTC. He is not only an American hero, he is a hero for everyone, really.. his family can be proud of him..

Thanks Pablo

I'm from Milan, Italy.
Today I've seen a documentary on Italian television about Pablo. I've understood only today with the story of Pablo what had been the 9/11. He is not only an American hero, he is a hero for everyone.
Thank you, Pablo

I have just watched the 9/11 on sky and I would just like to say I am so sorry for your loss. I know it's a bit late but it is the 8 anniversary. Also I would like to say that I am 8 years old and after watching this, he has been a very influential person in my life already.

I'm from Rome-Italy.
I watched right now a memorial on 11th September. I just wanna say that 8 years ago I was devastated and I cried so much... Today I am devastated like 8 years ago and I cry. I followed the Pablo history. He has been an angel. He's an angel and he'll be inside of every people who loved and who loves him. And everybody should be honorable and glad to have known a wonderful man as he was... as he is.
A strong hug and a very big kiss to your family.
He's with you.

Respect. This is the only thing appropriate when people talk about what you've done. A thought for your family, who must be very proud of you.

Hero yesterday and in our heart, you're an angel now. Your family should be proud to know that now you're watching out for them. Thank you, Mr Pablo Ortiz.

Giving your life for another is the greatest act of love a human can give. God Bless. You know he is standing with the Lord today and always.

What Pablo, along with Frank DiMartini and Mak Hanna, did on that day was unimaginable courage. He is the reason hundreds of people made it out of that terrible situation. He gave his life for a good cause. I am sorry you lost such a good husband, but I hope you know that he went down putting others before him.

May god keep your soul and may you rest in peace. We will forever remember your courage and always remember your name for what you are, a true hero among heroes. May we, and those who survived because of you and Frank Demartini, remember forever this act of great courage. We remember.

What a wonderful, courageous hero Pablo was on that fatal day, both he and Frank, amongst others. l

Lots of love, and R.I.P. true heroes! xxx

Pablo, I know of your efforts from TV, and you represent the true, self-sacrificing heroes. Wish you were still with us.

Pablo, I never met you. I only got to know you via 9/11 TV documentaries. You were a real hero!

Here is a short poem I wrote for you:

The morning it happened
No one will forget
No one will forget
All who perished
And no one will forget
Pablo Ortiz
For his courage and boldness
May he rest in peace!

I just learned about Pablo Ortiz's incredible story helping so many people in the South Tower. Nobody asks to be a hero, but Mr. Ortiz certainly was one. God bless you, Mr. Ortiz, and your family.

That was real hero.

I've just watched the documentary, "Inside the Twin Towers," and would like to comment on the true heroism shown by Pablo and Frank. People like these two give hope to us all that there is humanity and selflessness still left in the world. They are true heroes and an inspiration to us all. I hope in time your families' grief is replaced with only treasured memories of truly wonderful human beings. To give your life to save others is the ultimate sacrifice and shows what kind of people you were. My utmost respect to yous both.

Pablo, on the seventh anniversary of 9/11, I saw the "Inside the World Trade Center" and found out you died along with Frank De Martini saving over 50 lives, and you still died helping others escape. I was actually crying when I watched it because I knew your actions were not in vain. Your wife and children miss you very much, but they understand you died as a true American hero. R.I.P., PABLO! :'(

Pablo gives me hope for mankind. It's a shame that more children don't learn about people like him. They have so many negative and selfish role models.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
