I just watched a documentary recognizing your heroic efforts to save the lives of so many people. It described your methodical floor-by-floor search for people to help them escape the burning WTC buildings while you stayed behind to assist in any way. While I am saddened that you perished in this horrible tragedy, you were a true hero and saved the lives of so many others. I am moved by your courage and can only hope that I will be just as brave when confronted with the trivial challenges that may come my way. Thank you. You will be missed.

Just watched the documentary, "Inside the Twin Towers." R.I.P. Frank, Pablo, and all the people who died. You are true heroes!

My name is kjell, and I live in Belgium. I just saw the "Inside the twin towers" video and I have to say it really broke my heart. My thoughts are with pablo, frank, harry, and all those other heroes who died that horrifying day. I also lost some colleagues whom I have never met, but after watching this video I can only imagine what a disaster it was to be in the twin towers that day. So I would truly be pleased if I could address a word to the family of all the heroes who sacrificed their lives to try to save some others... Pablo, Harry, Frank and all the others, it would have been an honor to be beside you that day and to have known you. Your families are certainly very proud of you, and my thoughts are with you and with all your relatives and friends. May god bless you! rest in peace!

I just saw the "Inside the Twin Towers" video, and I was so sad. I feel so bad for Pablo.

My memories of you are held close to my heart. With these memories I keep your spirit alive. Before you became the world's hero, you were my hero, simply because you were my big brother. I think of you often. I love you and miss you.

Your sister,

Yesterday I saw the documentary: the day the world changed!
I only can say that they were great heroes, and God bless them! You must be really proud!

Greetings from Holland.

[Ed. - Today, September 4, 2008, a documentary on 9/11 was shown on a French channel, and I watched it, as on each anniversary date. It's a duty to remember the heroes and victims of this tragedy. We will always think about all those who disappeared that day. Pablo, we love you!]

Monsieur, vous etes tout simplement un héros. une grosse pensée à la famille qui doit etre fière d'avoir compté une personne aussi fantastique au sein d'elle.

[Ed. - Dear sir, you are quite simply a hero: a big thought for the family which must be proud to have counted such a fantastic person within it.]

Que dire de plus, votre époux est un héros. Que le Seigneur le garde en paix.

[Ed. - What more can I say than that your husband is a hero? May the Lord keep him in peace.]

Last nite I saw the 9/11 documentary on the Discovery channel and first heard about Mr. Ortiz and Demartini. Tears filled my eyes then and now as I write this. They were, in the truest sense of the word, HEROES. I never met them, but I will never forget them now. They have made their stamp on this world and on me. Thank you.

I was touched by the selflessness of Pablo and Frank ... I am speechless ... I only want to tell their children that their father was a great, great man! Both Frank and Pablo were angels that saved many lives and touched many more. It is because of them that several families remain united.... May God bless the two souls and give their families the courage to deal with the grief. I won't forget.... Hope you don't, either.

Thank you, Frank and Pablo!

When I heard the survivors’ accounts of Pablo Ortiz checking floors to get people out, I realised that this is the definition of a hero and someone I will tell my son to see as such. My heart feels for the loss of his family, and nothing anyone can say will remove that loss, but know this: your husband, son, father, brother—whatever relation Pablo was to you—beyond the grief remember that he is and will always be a hero. And not only will you never forget him, but the families of the people he saved will not forget him, either.

I just this minute heard the story of Pablo Ortiz and Googled his name, finding this website. Amazing man, a true hero. Amid all the craziness of that day and all the subsequent hatred and conspiracy theories that have ensued, it would be a crime to forget the courage and heroism of this man. To his loved ones, you have my deepest sympathy for your loss, but never forget to be proud of him.

Hero he is! To his family I say, this is one special person. He will be in my prayers.

What is a Hero? A Hero is someone who steps up for the sake of others when no one else does. Pablo Ortiz and his crew did that on the morning of September 11, 2001. They led dozens of trapped people to open stairwells, and never once did they choose to follow them down. Pablo and his crew did a floor-by-floor sweep, making their way quickly down from the 86th floor. Before the towers came down Pablo and his crew never made it out, but they did manage to save lives in exchange for theirs. That's a Hero.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
