When I read the article in USA Today shortly after 9-11-01 which mentioned Patrick Hoey, my heart stopped for a moment. My dad has the same name, and even though I knew he was safe in Missouri, I had to call him immediately. I told my Dad, Ret. Mjr. Patrick H. Hoey, Jr., about the article, and our family has prayed for Patrick Hoey and his family ever since. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

It is 9-11-2007, and we--Tee and I and Pat's godson Kevin--visited the Basilica in Washington, DC. We attended the 12:10 daily mass and remembered Pat. We remember Pat every single day of our lives. We miss him and realize now that the void made by Pat's murder will always be there. It is our responsibility to make sure our family and others know who Pat was and what a wonderful father, husband, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend he was. His kindness, love, and sense of humor often re-appear in our lives from time to time. We will never forget Pat and will always honor him for the wonderful man he was. We miss you, Pat! Be well in God's hands, and we will see you soon.

Patrick is always in our thoughts and prayers. He was the son of my 1st cousin John Hoey deceased WW2 veteran and his mother Lucille. God Bless

My name is Andrew Hoey from Australia. I am a police officer in a small town in NSW. I was just doing a google search when I came across this site. All those lost trying to help others in 9/11 are forever heros.

For Christmas 2001, my Mom gave me a bracelet with Pratick Aloysius Hoey's name on it. The name Patrick had importance with us because that was the name of our dog who had passed earlier that year. She also bought it for the meaning that he was a PAPD and my dad who had also passed that year was a police officer for a smaller station as well. I think about Patrick and what kind of man he was and his family and how much I am sure they miss him.

My brother, Art Fleischmann, graduated from Dumont High School, with Pat Hoey in 1965. I remember Pat being one of my brother's special friends in High School; he often mentioned Pat's name, when we were growing up in Dumont, New Jersey. When I heard that he was lost in the World Trade Center, my heart and prayers went out to his family and other loved ones. We will miss Pat. He was a good, kind person and he always made us smile.I am thinking of Pat today, 9-11-06. Sincerely, Donna (Fleischmann) Earley, from North Haven, CT.

I am a Rockford, Illinois Police Department Detective.  My brother-in-law, who is an Illinois State Police Investigator gave me a dog tag with Patrick A. Hoey's name on it with the date 9-11-01 printed on it.  I keep the dog tag in my locker on look at daily when I am preparing for work.  It reminds me of how fragile life is.

My husband wears a memorial braclet with Patric's name, we didn't know him, but he is often in our thoughts and his family in our prayers.

I didn't know this man but my heart and prayers go out to this man.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
