Firefighters say that when someone in the department dies, it is like a family member dying.
Multiply that by 343, and the emotional impact is unforgivable.
Dear firefighters,
I would like to introduce you to a very special organization, The Pat Lyons Foundation. The Pat Lyons Foundation was created out of love: the love of a wife and a son, the love of parents and family, and the love of friends. Pat was a NYC firefighter who was lost tragically on September 11, 2001 while saving lives at the World Trade Center. Pat was a man who not only loved his family, but also loved sports, loved to compete, and loved life. He adored children and planned on having a large family of his own. Sadly, that dream never came to be. Pat never had the opportunity to be a father to his son, Patrick Mate Lyons, who was born 26 days later on October 7, 2001.
The Pat Lyons Foundation is dedicated to honoring the memory and spirit of Patrick John Lyons by granting wishes to seriously ill children; enhancing a child's hospital stay with fun games; helping to fund research for childhood leukemia; financially assisting a children’s cancer center and awarding an athletic scholarship in his memory.
The 3rd Annual Lt. Patrick Lyons Golf Classic will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 3 courses (Calverton Links, Great Rock Golf Club and Long Island National). This is the largest one-day charity golf outing on Long Island. In our efforts to achieve another successful event, we are asking for your support. Please consider donating a gift certificate as a raffle prize, providing items for golfer goodie bags, helping sell our car raffles, or by being a sponsor at our event. Consider also helping by selling our “343” bracelets ($2 each or 3 for $5) at a firehouse picnic or function. Any donation, large or small, will make a great impact on our 3rd Annual Golf Outing. The attached brochure will give you more details about this special event and possible sponsorship opportunities.
It is with the support of people like you that we are able to succeed and bring happiness to so many deserving children while remembering the 343 brave firefighters. Thank you for supporting The Pat Lyons Foundation and for helping us keep Pat\'s memory alive. Please call me with any questions at (212) 708-3356 and visit our website at www.patlyonsfoundation.org for more information about Pat and our accomplishments.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
