Hi there, I share the same surname as Patrick. I just had a son and called him Tom. My heart goes out to Mr and Mrs Dwyer. Your son sounded like a strong, smart and warm man. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope his memory lives on forever. Thinking of you and Patricks family as the 10 year anniversary nears.
Sincerely,
Jacci Dwyer
Melbourne, Australia.

I was a classmate of Ed Dwyer, Pat's older brother.
I am eternally grateful for your son resetting my dislocated right ring finger while play touch football at Smithtown West at Thanksgiving in the early 80's. I'll never forget him and I never forgot thinking about him.
Hello Erin hope all is well.
Hello Ed - still playing soccer?
Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer your son was a good man.

We wish to express our thanks and love to all those who have remembered our son, Patrick. Please always keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks to the parents who have sons named Patrick and to those school friends who took time to write about Pat. He was so very special....
His memory lives on in the scholarship. His brother, Eddie, has a memorial scholarship golf outing every year in his name. Four one-thousand-dollar scholarships are awarded each year to scholar/athletes from Smithtown West High in Patrick’s memory. They are named by the school.
We just had our eighth outing. All the recipients have, to our knowledge, gone on to college and farther. This is good news. So thank you all for all your good memories and good wishes.
Love from the Dwyer family,
Ed, Joan, Eddie, Erin, and Michael

I remember Pat as a fearless player on the lacrosse field. During a critical game in our senior season, Pat singlehandedly brought us back from a sure loss at Huntington with unbelievable drive and heart. I always remembered that game and Pat's leadership—his "never quit" attitude. We went on to take our league title that year 1982, much due to his effort.
I am saddened by his loss, and I pray for his wife, children, and loving parents. God bless.

I was friends with Patrick in the early 1970's when we both went to Accomsett Elementary School in Smithtown. I remember having a race with him from the front of the school to the flag pole on a sunny spring day. He was the only one that I can remember who was faster than me.
My family and I moved from Smithtown in 1976, so Patrick will forever live in my memories as a very fast and very happy 12-year-old boy. I was truly saddened to hear of his passing.

Three years ago, my big brother won the Patrick Thomas Dwyer memorial award because he was a very famous lacrosse player in my high school, and my brother proved worthy of winning it. Mr. Dwyer's parents were at the ceremony to present the award to my brother, and they were friendly but still upset about their son's tragic death on that ungodly day. Even his wife and children were there. I wish you rest in peace, and please continue to watch over your family and the ones who still miss you, Patrick. :'(

My grandfather and father also shared your loved one's christian name. My grandfather boxed in the 1924 Olympics for Ireland. They have been a great inspiration to me. Always remember your roots, and be proud of your Irish heritage. God bless you and your family. R.I.P., Patrick.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
