I grew up with Pat's brother, John, in Hastings. I spent a lot of time in the Danahys' back yard getting a sound beating from Pat in Wiffle ball. Pat used to hit the ball over the house regularly. I remember Pat as a very good athlete and all around good guy. My thoughts go out to Pat, his daughters and all of the Danahys today.

I attended Pat and Mary's wedding, and they had a beautiful family together. I didn't find out about his passing until the obituary appeared in the newspaper, & I was totally shocked and saddened to find out that he was among all of the other victims that day. I continue to pray for him and his family.

I don't think I'd seen Pat since 1980 (I moved away) but he was a team mate of mine St. Matthew's CYO basketball team. I remember Pat always riding his bike all over the village of H. on H.,by the school. His Mother gave the
St. M's team mates rides home after the game.I remember it was the day the US hockey team won the gold medal in Lake Plasid. The basketball game we were playing was tied and I had the last shoot and missed.Pat came up to me and said it was OK. Pat had this great smile whenever we as a team did something wrong (boys will be boys). God bless you Pat.

I hadn't seen Pat in a few years, though when this horrible event happened he was one of the few people I immediately thought of as I knew he worked at the WTC. We used to go at it on the basket ball court. He was an outstanding ball player. Could drain it from anywhere. Would dominate a game and yet be the smallest guy on the court. We still talk about him.

PAT WAS A FRIEND OF MINE ALONG WITH HIS WIFE MARY AND CHILDREN,THEY WOULD OFTEN COME AND VISIT US AT OUR PIZZERIA IN DOBBS FERRY AND HE ALWAYS HAD A MEATBALL WEDGE WITH HOT PEPPERS AND MARY WOULD HAVE HER CALZONE. I SPOKE TO HIM LAST ON SAT SEPT 8TH 2001 AND HE WAS TELLING ME THAT HE WAS GOING TO PLEASANTVILLE NY TO BIKE RIDE (ONE OF HIS HOBBIES)I DID TALK TO HIM FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME. WE ALL MISS HIS PERSONALITY, SENSE OF HUMOR AND JUST EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM WAS TRUE AND SINCERE. YOU KNOW WHEN SOMEONE PASSES AWAY PEOPLE SAY THE NICEST THINGS ABOUT THAT PERSON , WELL I CAN PERSONALLY SAY THAT THERE AREN'T ANY WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW WONDERFUL PATRICK DANAHY WAS AND I WE ALL JUST HAD 10% OF HIS KINDNESS , IT WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE.

WE MISS YOU PAT, YOUR GIRLS ARE SO PRETTY AND SMART , MARY IS VERY HAPPY, AND YOUR BABY BROTHER IS HAVING A BABY.
REST IN PEACE.

JOHN

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
