Thinking of Paul today as I do often and always on 9/11. Eleven years ago today my friend lost his life, but he and his spirit will never be forgotten...

Another year, and still I feel sad when I think about you and the terrible loss to your family. And I feel sadness for everyone that was lost on that day.
Again, I hope you are leaving pennies!

Although I never met Mr Friedman, I feel a connection to him and his family. My husband and I too, around the same time in May 2001 and from the same adoption agency, brought home a beautiful baby boy from So. Korea. I recently visited the 9/11 memorial and was deeply touched. My thoughts were with his family and what a terrible tragedy it was. We will never forget.

Another year has passed and on this date I always think of you. Sometimes I just cannot believe you are gone.. my smiling, smart, mentor and friend.
Rest in peace.. you truly were taken from us too soon. And my best to your wife, daughter and the rest of your family.

Learning of Paul's fate a few weeks after the fact was quite a blow. A kind soul such as Paul enriches the world around him. I met Paul while visiting friends attending Johns Hopkins in the 1970's. We often partied and cruised together with the gang on the weekends for his college years. Paul was always friendly with a good sense of humor. I still keep a photo on my desk of Paul with our "Lunch Central" gang at a New Years reunion in New York City after their graduation. Paul's good will is now just a fond memory, but his unjust death is a part of my judgment.

I drove Paul to Dewey High School as part of a car pool. He was a great kid, as were his siblings.

I worked with Paul at Bell Labs in the early 1980s. I only recently found out he was a passenger on one of the 9/11 planes. I can still picture him at his desk, his smiling face, so young and full of promise. He faced toward the door from the first office on the hallway, and was always nice and friendly as I walked toward the end of the hall to my desk. I remember when he first went to California, how impressed he was. He came back to NJ from vacation in an almost dreamlike state. I was very curious and it inspired me to make my first trip to California in 1980, and subsequently to move here in 1984. I was thinking about him last night and when I came in this morning I looked for his name on the Internet and came across this page. Paul was a nice gentle person. It is a great loss not to have him with us anymore. But I will always remember his smiling face of encouragement.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
