There were so many phone calls today trying to let me know how much they wanted to ease my pain and emptiness, there was not one voice on the phone that wasn't filled with tears and true emotion. The nicest thing that was told to me this day by someone that loved Paul very much at one time, is that she asked him once who his best friend was and he replied "My Mother".
How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.

Just want to say I am grateful to hear Pauls story on CNN tonight...the 4 year anniversary of 9/11. I think allowing his daughter to receive the funds is a great way to memorialize him...so she may now know him.

When I watched the Towers in flames and knew you were up there, all I could do was cry and say "My Brother is there." Aunt Marie and I cried and held each other as we watched the Tower fall. I thought about our family and how it would never be the same. It has taken me all this time to pay tribute because my heart could not bear the pain of saying goodbye. Though the words were rarely spoken for they were hard for me to say. I loved you from the day I was born and will continue to until the day I die.

Elogy to my Spouse

We made a life together, a home and a household-
He was the world to me, and his love
Held me together in moments of joy and pain-
He was my spouse, come shine or rain,
I long to be with him again
In the great Eternity beyond all things;
My lover, my spouse
Who has gone far away from us
because of this tragedy that has touched the world
Too close to home to ever forget what really matters-
I wish you'd come back to me, and the world
And tell everyone what you really felt inside, of the pain
You feel at leaving me behind-
My lover, my spouse, it is but you and I
Against strange changing destiny, lucky in love, rearranged,
Our love eternal will forever burn, a flame forever more-
We were made for one another and fit together so perfectly
Our hearts beating as one
As free as our love was meant to be-
As free and beautiful as in the beginning,
And as we all must return to dust
And bid farewell to all we wish well
So, my dear, I say good night
Knowing that you will always be near me-
In my heart, your spirit blessed, I hold you close-
You used to sleep beside me, and now you rest
My cherished spouse, forever your love will guide me

My Brother
I will always cherish and love you
I'm always thinking of you
I'm proud to be your sister
And now that you're far away in Heaven
I'm gonna keep saying
I love my Brother
And you'll know it in your heart

To our son Paul
Your 3rd fourth of July in Heaven. Today was a special fourth. "Ground Zero was reborn on the 4th of July." A Cornerstone was laid for the "Freedom Tower" The inscription carved into the granite pays tribute to all who lost their lives in the Sept.11 attacks and to the enduring spirit of Freedom.
Your patriotism remains with us always. We can always remember all your patriotic shirts and your love of the Olympics which will be with us soon.
    Rest peacefully.
Forever Mom and Dad

A tribute to Paul's last year

*** Posted by Lucy Paul's fiance/spouse on 2004-07-02 ***

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought of you yesterday and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we speak your name with pride, and we relive our memories of living side by side. Your memory is our keepsake with which we'll never part. GOD has you in his keeping-we have you in our hearts.
Love Mom and Dad

This is the first time I have been able to write a tribute to you Paul, but Aunt Dorothy has joined you along with your Aunt Marie. Your were all too young to leave us. It sure is a comfort to know that the three of you are looking over us. Rest in Peace.

Uncle Tom

There are so many memorials to Paul that are touching. But, a persons life cannot be changed or altered. Paul's last year was his happiest.

Patti, Lucy's long time friend

God called Aunt Marie on May 5, 2004 to watch over you. She missed you so very much and has never been the same since you were killed. I have lit a vigil candle next to yours for Aunt Marie. Thank you for the sign you sent that your are together.

Paul, Happy Easter 2004 in Heaven.  We had Easter with Mom & Dad and friends.  Heather and Jimmy had a great time looking for Easter Eggs.  You were thought of often.  I hope you are proud of your website.  We try to add to it as often as we can.  Keep looking down on your family.  Until we meet again.
Love always,

Disturbing as so much has been since Paul's untimely death I didn't think there could be anything else left to shock me...until recently...when I was given the picture of Paul falling to his death. Life is so unfair for such a loving and kind person to perish in such a way. It saddens me beyond words. I continue to honor him and will always as my actions will never cease, in his memory, just as he would have expected from his fiance/spouse. I try not to look at the picture of the last minute of his life because it is too difficult to face, but the truth of this horrible act of terrorism must be shown as it is so real. I know he was thinking of me as he was falling...just as I was of him. We loved each other truly and unconditionally for the last year of his life...I can still hear his voice telling me he loved me as he leaned down over our bed to kiss me goodbye before leaving for work. The special moments only he and I shared will never be forgotten and no one can take them from me.

People get upset with me if I share my true feelings about 9-11, so I won't say anything except thanks for providing this website.

Paul was an inspiration to us all. I bowled with him on many occasions and always loved his fun loving spirt.  Paul talked about his bowling family (Mom and Dad mostly) and how the sport was in his blood.  He meet his ex-wife Debbie in a bowling league and many of his close friends. If there is a bowling alley up above that is were I'm sure he is.  I still often think about Paul Innella when I'm bowling and what a great friend he was.  Peace to you Paul and to your family.

Paul was one of my Best Friends.  His life was full of joy and adventure.  His friends miss him so much and just want fun, loving Paulie back.  His parents, siblings and friends meant the world to him.  We all know Paul is watching down on us at every get together and laughing and crying along with us.  Paulie, know that we are taking care of your loved ones for you.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
