Rick was my best friend since 2nd grade. Not a day goes by when I dont think of him and his wonderful family, and the way his laughter filled any room he was in. Happiness followed him everywhere he went. I will miss him always.

My husband at the time Steve Goodman worked with Richard at Aon. I had the opportunity of meeting him at a business function. He was a very warm and friendly person! Each year my prayers go out to his family for the tragic loss. Please know he will never be forgotten!

My cousin Ricky..."little Ricky" we called you. We spent holidays and birthdays together and ran peg leg pete races in the back yard. I am proud to have been a part of your life, and to hear about the great man you had become.

Thinking of you as always at this time of year. I heard how you saved lives that day, and it cost you yours to do it. You will always be a hero to me. RIP friend.

Ricky and I sat together in Advanced Math classes during our high school years. He was one of the best guys I knew during those times. We were in the Colonial Williamsburg Fife and Drum Corps together, and during our 50th Anniversary, we made a point of playing a score that Ricky had written called "Adjutants Drummer" - he was in my mind that day and on many of the days that have followed the events of 8 years ago.

I feel really bad because one of my family members died in the World Trade Center. I pray every night for all the families that lost a loved one on that tragic morning of 9-11-01. God bless you all.

My family and I vacationed in Ocean City, NJ this past August. I bought my young daughters some ice cream, and they sat down on a bench to eat. I was able to read the memorial plaque on the bench, and saw the names of so many family members who missed and loved Richard Blood, who died on 9-11. I want you to know that after reading it, I kissed my girls and told them I loved them so much. I also said a prayer for Richard. I will be sure to visit the bench again (across from the amusement park) each summer on my annual vacation and will say a special prayer for Richard. Please know that if I am doing this, so must be so many others who read your loving tribute to him right by the ocean. He will be prayed for and remembered. I am so sorry for your loss. May God Bless you all and give you peace.

I think that he was great to put his life in danger for other people. He didn't have to, and I feel greatly sorry for his wife and children. I am just a girl studying the 9/11 for a project and read a story about it. Even though he wanted to go, he didn't. He was the fire marshal for that floor, but lots of people fled from the scene. He didn't.

Ricky and I went to junior high and highschool together. We graduated from high school on the same day. I remember him as a nice quiet kid. He was kind to everyone and never got in trouble. I was amazed to see that he had the desire to conquer the Big Apple. (We lived in rural Virginia) From all accounts we were both late bloomers and had children in our mid 30s. My heart goes out to his wife and young children. I will keep you in my prayers.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
