Bob and his family lived next door to me and my family for several years when I was a little kid. His oldest daughter Cathy and I are very close in age.
At that time, my mom was very ill and had just started dialysis. Compared to today, dialysis was very primitive in the 1970s. Not only was it difficult for my mom, it was especially difficult for my dad and the rest of us. Bob was a great friend to my dad, and his whole family went out of their way to help mine.
Bob had a personality that was larger than life, and I remember the great fun he and my father had - whether they were fishing or arguing who had the nicest lawn.
The thing that I will always carry with me is the kindness of him and his family. They were incredible neighbors and friends. I will never forget all of the wonderful things they did for me and my family. We never had to ask for help, it was always just there.
Maureen, Cathy, and Merky-Mer, I just wanted you to know that I think of your family often; especially at this time of the year.
I think that Bob would have a good laugh, knowing that every time I hear a Barry Manilow song I think of your family. I think Maureen is the only mom who could get 7 year olds to play musical chairs to the "Copa Cabana".

I was drawn to you by our same surname. May God bless and comfort your family and friends, and especially your daughter. I also lost a godsister on this day, Ms. Janice Brown. May your spirit live and bring wonderful memories to those who love and miss you.

I commuted with Robert Kennedy from Toms River to the Port Authority 5 days a week for many many years. I am sad and somewhat ashamed to say I didn't get to know him. I only knew him to say hello and good-bye or make polite conversation about the weather or traffic. For me, even though I didn't know Robert, the tragedy of 9/11 hits home and is closer to me because I knew him, and he died. Every time I see a NJ Transit bus on the parkway, or think of 9/11, I think about Robert Kennedy. I think about his family, his wife, and what Robert has missed since his life was taken from him. I think, "What if he were sick on 9/11 and stayed home?" How different his life and his family's life would be if he had! Either way, I think about Robert Kennedy, and I believe that that is the best way to honor his memory and his family.

Shortly after 9/11/01, I bought a sterling silver bracelet to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks. The bracelet I received was engraved with the name Robert C. Kennedy. I want his family to know that I prayed for them then and now and want them to know that, even though I didn't know him personally, he won't be forgotten.

Robert Kennedy is my father and was a wonderful, funny, caring man. Thank you to all who come to remember. May we never forget him or any of the others who died that day.
I love you dad.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
