You shall never be forgotten. I am very honored to have called you my friend. Forever your story shall be told to my children and my friends of how kind and great beyond words you were. You are a true hero. You gave yourself to save lives. You walked back into the falling towers to save more lives. You gave it your all.

I would first like to say, r.i.p. Robert Fazio, but I do not know him, but I am from Quinlan, Texas, and I happened to be walking down the road when I found a pure silver bracelet that has the name "Robert Fazio NYPD" on it, and I was curious how it has gotten from New York City to this little country town of Quinlan, Texas.... If you have any info on how it ended up in Texas, please contact me at travis_akkerman (at) yahoo (dot) com.

For Robert ...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain ... on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers' arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night, and, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments, and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled in the arms of God. I walk with the angels and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you: I am peace, love. I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumn's leaf that floats in the garden of God. And I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me,
For I shall never die,
As long as you remember me ...
With a smile and a sigh.

I recently relocated back to my home in upstate NY from KY. During a background check while applying for a job, my name came up as deceased in 9/11/01. I found out that the man who died was a brave policeman. Since then, not a day goes by that I don't think about this brave hero and what his life was like and how grateful and proud I am that a man like him risked his life every day to keep us safe. Being we share the same name, I also feel a kinship with him and wonder about the similarities and differences in our lives. If anyone knowing this man would like to contact me, my e-mail is: batcave1968 (at) yahoo (dot) com

My sincerest regards,
Robert Fazio

Rob and I grew up together and attended the same schools and classes throughout our young lives. I had a very difficult childhood and often found myself the subject of ridicule by the other children in our classrooms. Rob never joined in or said an unkind word to me during all this time. We even played together on many occasions. As we grew up and entered high school, I remember Rob as always being kind and caring. I know that he applied this same quality every day as community officer in Manhattan South, 13th precinct up until the moment he was taken from us. I keep a picture of him on my back window of my car to this day to help me remember what is important in life, to remember the courage we all must have in crisis, and to remember his friendship and kindness when sadness suddenly enters my heart around 9/11. Every time I go back to my old town, I visit his memorial at our town firehouse and pray for his family, who lost a wonderful man. I will never forget him and the bravery he and his partner, Moira Smith, demonstrated on that awful day. My family will never forget him. I am comforted by the knowledge that there are others in this world as brave and as kind as Rob was, but this will never fill the hole that has been left in my heart by his demise.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
