To the family
I had the honor of wearing his name on my number badge on my t shirt for the las Vegas 9/11 10th anniversary 9/11k road running race. My mom died the day after and I was unable to fly home to see her and I could feel both of them supporting me during the race

My son received the Robert McIlvane Scholar Athlete award at Sandy Run Middle School in Upper Dublin tonight. We are honored to receive this award in his name. We will cherish this always.

To Bob's family:

I am watching President Obama announce the death of Osama bin Laden. Among the many things that are racing through my mind is your son, Bob. I worked with Bob in the media relations department at Merrill Lynch. That day is so hazy, but I remember registering his name with the city at the New School because we knew he had gone to the Trade Center, and we couldn't connect with him. Then, a few days later, we met with all of you in one of the saddest meetings I can ever recall.

I just wanted you to know that Bob is not forgotten, not even by people who didn't know him very well. I see the news tonight, and I think of Bob.

Regards,
Christine Walton

Dear Robert,

I have seen some of your videos in search for the truth regarding 9/11. I think you are a very brave man and someone whom your son would be very proud of!

I would just like to say that no true Muslim would EVER think of committing such an act. We mourn your loss with you and hope that one day you find the answer you so passionately seek.

I offer my deepest respects to you and your family.

May your son Rest In Peace

With kindest regards

Mohammed

I have read that some "truthers" have cited your loss as proof of their delusional theories. I am heartsick that hateful people would trade on the grief and memories of others, like yourselves, to promote their self-indulgent fantasies of huge conspiracies.

I work hard to expose those horrible people as a very small gesture on my part to support those who perished, and those who were left behind.

Please accept my sympathy and heart-felt condolences for your loss.

Hello everyone! I'm having a hard time to type as my eyes fill with tears and I'm trying to hold them back! I have spent about seven hours reading about 911 and about the government coverup. I have lost respect for President Bush! From what I read and the videos I've I seen, I'm shocked and angry! I feel very very sad for the McIlvaine family! Would a family member please contact Mr. Alexei Heather at kr7755@telus.net as our company Sesom International Ltd. would like to honour Bobby McIlvaine in a very special way! Please peek at our web site www.eccles7.com for information about us. I also pray peace over the McIlvaine family! Sicerely, Alexei Heather

Bob was the same age as my own son, Mark. Bob and Mark both played soccer for the Upper Dublin U-15 travel team at a time when I was active in coaching. They also both went on to play for the Upper Dublin High School Varsity squad. I remember Bob vividly. I knew he was going to be a success at whatever he attempted in life. It was also cogent for me that on 9/11 Mark was also living and working in Manhattan, and just starting a job with Citibank. We couldn't locate Mark for a couple days until communications started to get back to normal. Our memories on this date stay with Bob, and our prayers go out to his family.

Bobby was my cousin- I know that his family is beyond grief stricken and misses him every day. He was charming, smart, interested and the fact that I must use the past tense fills me with such sadness. Like all those who lost their lives that day, Bobby had so much to live for. We pray for peace in his name.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
